My family and I stayed here for 2 nights during October 2007. The hotel was then very new and I decided to take a chance based on very few Tripadvisor reviews. Boy, was that a good return!
We booked directly with the hotel and received a very low price of 60euros a night. The hotel was very flexible with allowing a 13 year old to count as a child in parents' room even though their policy is that children must be under 12.
Location is a bit out of the way but we had no problem getting there with a taxi. There is also a bus stop right next to the hotel if you want to go to town and it is very close the the Alhambra by taxi.
The hotel building has a horrible design in the shape of a generic orange box...don't be alarmed, the inside is very new and has a sleek modern look. Everything from the lobby to our toilet was sparkling and smelt new.
Staff members throughout this hotel do not speak a word of English. This included the person who answered you when you dialed for reception and the people taking your room service order. The only staff member who did speak English was the senior person in check in. This, however, is quite common in Spain and although this establishment was particularly low on English speakers we managed to get everything we needed whilst practicing our Spanish thanks to the extremely helpful attitude and smiley service we received from all employees we encountered. We arrived at the hotel rather late and restaurant was closed but staff opened the bar just for us and made a lot of efforts to accommodate us.
Our rooms were fantastic. Everything was unusually clean, almost as if never used. We had one king size bed and an additional cot in the room. The king size beds are huge and are made up of 2 separate single beds. this seems to be the norm in Spain and they seem to think it preferable to one large bed. Style of rooms was minimalist but luxurious and fixtures were to a very high standard.
Now to the cons, due to the location of the hotel there is nowhere to go out for dinner in the area. The hotel has a restaurant which we did try. Food was good but the service was extremely slow even is Spanish terms. Servers were still very nice and tried hard but we spent 3 hours eating two courses! this was a bit of an issue for us but we made sure to eat an early dinner in town before we went back to the hotel the following evenings.
If you have a car or don't mind taking taxis to town during evening hours, this is an amazing bargain or an hotel. Great quality of accommodations with a very low price.
