An unassuming place that offers rooms at a good price. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were adequate. We didn't notice the noise. The only problem was the ANTS! They were all over our room and got into bags left on the floor. There were signs in the stairwell forbidding food in the rooms but a fumigation might be in order. Until they solve the ant problem, I'd stay away.

  • Liked — location, cost.

The hostal penelope has a great location! The small little street is a little crazy at night and there are plenty of places to grab abite to eat and have a drink with friends. (it was still quiet in our room eventhough the street below was crazy!) The room was a good size and we got the private bath. It was all spotlessly clean. There was Air conditioning and it has a an elevator too which was good since we were on the 3rd floor (4th floor in america since they call the 1st floor the ground floor and the 2nd floor the first floor. did that just make sense? lol)

The hostal is more like a hotel since there was no internet, kitchen or common room.

The only thing we didn´t enjoy was the front desk. Although the receptionist was tryingto be helpful, she kept leaving to perform her other duties DURING our check-in procedure so it took forever. I think she left at least 3 times. She was also the waitress at the bar/restaurant next door.

I´d probably stay at this hostal again but not if I wanted a hostal experience. I would recommend it for anyone older than college kids and for couples. It was definitely a good price as well.

  • Liked — Air conditioning, cleanliness and the location
  • Disliked — front desk receptionist was alsothe waitress next door

Stayed here on 19-20May(Sat/Sun).
The staff were all friendly, although some can't speak much english but they were always willing to help. The location is great as well.
The only flaw : It was VERY noisy on Sat nite. The walls were thin and we could hear pple drinking, talking all the way up to 5am.

I just came back from my Spain trip and I can say that from all hotels this was the worse!
It is located on a pedestrian street with tons of restaurants, bars and people all night long until 7am! Even the hotel staff talked loud all night long.
If you want to party all night and don't mind the nise this place is for you.
Also, staff not very knowledgeable about town, things to do, etc.
No hairdrier and no outside phone connection in the room.
I would not stay there again.

I stayed one night at the hostal penelope. The room and private bathroom were both very clean. For a hostal it is a very good value for your money, and you are not going to be surprised on the downside by this place.

The only quibbles are that it is on a street with many restaurants and bars so expect a lot of noise into the night. However, I had no trouble going to sleep.
