We had very mixed feelings about this hotel (really a hostal). There were some things we really liked and some we didn’t.

The Bad

They didn't have a room with a double bed as we had reserved, so we ended up with two single beds. Our room was on the third floor and there was no elevator. The walls are very thin and you could hear a lot of noise.

The Good

This is a family owned hotel and Marissa the owner was a delight. The confusion about the beds seemed to be an honest mistake and she was very sorry. She even offered to have us stay in an apartment she has access to. This was also the only hotel that included breakfast at anywhere near this rate. The location was very good and the rooms were clean. There is also internet access available in the hotel lobby.

Overall we enjoyed our stay here and would probably go back because of Marissa. She also told us that a major renovation is planned for the next year or so.

Found this hostal by chance when we got to Granada, and were happy to get a room. Centrally located, it is great for those travelling with a budget, which we decided to do for some nights.

Our double room (No. 204) was simple and clean, nothing fancy but great for 50 Euros/night. Reception staff was very friendly.

The front desk people were great, the breakfast ok, and the room was pretty sad. It was so tiny, that my friend and I had to hang our backpacks in order to be able to move there. The bathtub has a step in it which you cannot see, so my friend fell hard. The room was average clean - you would not like to walk around with no shoes. And the most important part - the noise from the street was horrible! While the hotel is located on a side street, there are several tabernas on that street and you can hear the noise of drunken people till early hours in the morning. So if you have a choice to book one of the rooms on another side, do. The good thing is that the hotel made reservations for us at the Alhambra. That was painless and we realized that most people did not even know you can ask your hotel to do it for you.

The staff was pleasant and welcoming. It was a budget stay - there isn't an elevator and the staff flips the air conditioning circuit breaker sometime during the night or when you leave the building. But you have a small, private bathroom and basic cable/TV in the room. There is free Internet in the lobby. The Hostal is a block away from the Calle Navas, a street with many small restaurants, in one direction, and Calle Varela, where there is a small supermarket. There is good taxi and bus transportation nearby. Definitely worth the stay if you are traveling on the cheap.
