For anyone visiting Granada, we can't recommend this hotel enough. Where to begin... THE LOCATION is excellent. It's a short walk to The Alhambra yet feels like a remote oasis, far from all things touristy. It's close to town and a short bus ride to the old Moorish quarter but well-removed from the bustle of the city center. THE VIEW from our private terrace was magical. When my husband first saw it, he asked what kind of strings I had to pull to get such an amazing view. I told him I thought all the rooms had similar views. THE OWNER, Manuel is wonderful. Him and his daughter made us feel so welcome and comfortable. There's a wealth of local interest and art books available and Manuel himself is an expert on the Alhambra and Granada and is more than happy to share his knowledge. Definitely take his advice on restaurants in the area. He also makes a mean Spanish Toast and Café con Leche. OUR ROOM felt like a warm, cozy slipper at the end of a long day of sightseeing. All in all, Granada and Manuel's Carmen where the highlight of our 2-week trip to Spain.

Perfect location within five minutes walk of the alhambra and only a ten minute one down into the city of Granada.

Our room was beautiful with a virtually private terrace overlooking the city and the Sierra Nevada. Can't comment on the breakfast as we didn't take it but it smelt wonderful!

The staff were incredibly helpful and pleasant - we would return, unhesitatingly.

We picked this hotel based on reviews posted here by earlier guests and we were NOT disappointed. The room (El Torre) was excellent with lots of space, a king bed, and a wonderful terrace with a terrific view over the city to the snow-capped mountains. The service was also excellent with service provided before we even asked. We enjoyed a late afternoon drink with the other guests from the UK, Paris, and Canada.

Proximity to the Alhambra is good - you can walk it in about ten minutes.

Two notes - it is not so close to restaurants. About a fifteen minute walk down into the town. Take a taxi for return up the hill. Also, there are some fairly steep cobblestone walkways so a person with mobility issues might find it challenging.

If we were to revisit Granada we want to return to the Carmen.

My husband, my mother and I stayed at this beautiful hotel early this year and, sincerely, the hotel is beautifully decorated and the staff was helpful but it was so cold inside the hotel. It was nicer outside because we wore our jackets on! Really, we left quite disappointed in spite of the views and the city. The reason is because Manuel, the owner, would not turn the heating on until late or maybe it did not work properly. The fact is that we were cold.
Besides, my mother would not cope with the hillside on which it´s situated. A pity for it has great views!
However, the rest was very good. Better visit it in other seasons.

We are so pleased to have found this small hotel/guest house on Trip Advisor - it wholeheartedly deserves to be the number one rated place to stay in Granada!

The location is stunning, right at the top of one of the many steep hills in Granada, about 5 minutes walk just below the Alhambra - perfect for visiting this site.

We met Anna from the hotel in the street, as she stopped to offer us help as our taxi driver had taken the wrong route to the hotel - just co-incidence that she was from the hotel. Both Anna and Manuel, the owner cannot do enough to help. They are both charming, helpful, friendly and genuinely wish to please. We don't think we have ever received quite such personal, but non-invasive service anywhere!

We stayed in La Torre, the hotel's best room - do splash out and go for it, it's absolutely beautiful and has an incredible view. We spent many hours enjoying a glass of wine, enjoying the view each afternoon after a morning's walking around Granada. The mornings in Spring are very fresh and by late afternoon the temperatures reached the high 20's - the room seemed to stay beautifully cool all the time though, which was a treat.

The Alhambra is quite incredible, even more than we'd imagined (do book tickets in advance, it's essential, as numbers are limited). Go early if you can as this seems to be the quietest time and lovely to enjoy the views and gardens before the crowds and late afternoon heat.

We loved Granada and walked for miles and miles, enjoying the city itself, the Albacin and Sacromonte districts, all of which are so different.

We loved the tapas culture (free food - perfect!) but as seems to be the norm in Spain, be prepared to eat late - finding somewhere for dinner before 8.30pm is almost impossible.

Enjoy - we certainly did!

  • Liked — What's not to like?! Location, view and quality of service received - superb!
  • Disliked — Location is amazing, but be aware it is a steep climb to the hotel (or short taxi ride!)
