This is one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed in. We had first class service the whole time and the staff takes meticulous care of not only the hotel, but also the grounds. If possible, try to stay in the room called "El Torre." It is on the top floor and features a big bathroom as well as a very large balcony. My friends had that room and I stayed in the room called "Cipres," which was equally comfortable but had a slightly smaller patio.

The hotel itself is situated on a hill which overlooks all of Granada. You can have picturesque sunsets looking west and enjoy the snow capped Sierra Nevadas looking east. The whole time, your senses will be overwhelmed by the scents of lemon trees, orange trees, wisteria, and a bevy of other flowers of which I am not educated enough to identify. Walk all of the grounds, there are treasures around each corner and tucked away in small recesses.

Manuel, the main caretaker of the hotel, provides relentless service and even arrives early to prepare breakfast in the morning. Fresh fruit is picked from the trees and he makes a special tostada with tomato, salt, and olive oil that I will be implementing into my regular breakfast cycle. It is a short walk to the Alhambra and equal in its beauty.

We have just returned from a stay and what can we say that other Trip Advisor reviews have not already covered. We couldn't have wished for a better place. We stayed in the top room "La Torre", which was out of this world. Both the room and bathroom were spotless and well decorated and the balcony had fantastic views over the Sierra Nevada ,City & orange trees in the garden. As for Manuel - he was an absolute diamond. From the moment we arrived, nothing was a problem. As it was my birthday, he arranged flowers for my husband, he booked us into a fantastic restaurant. If visiting, you must also get manuel to make you the "traditional" tomato bread!
As for Granada, this was true spain and a visit to the Alhambra is a must. What you do need to take into account is this is very old city which is hilly, with narrow cobbled streets and the Carmen is a traditional house which was built on the side of the hill (quite near the top) - but this was part of the fun for us!

My husband and I spent three weeks traveling in Spain and were fortunate to have stayed in a variety of nice hotels and B&Bs. But the Carmen de la Alcubilla was the one experience we both agreed could not have been improved upon. I can't think of enough good things to say... The decor is simple, tasteful and everything is impeccably clean. The proprietor, Manuel, is knowledgeable and friendly. The location, walking distance to the Alhambra, can't be beat and the views from the patio are lovely.

My wife and I stayed 4 nights at the Carmen in November and had a fantastic stay.
As previous reviewers have said, Manuel and Paula are the perfect hosts and full of suggestions for places to visit and places to eat.
We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Granada.

We had a wonderful 2-night stay at this charming Carmen. I can't say enough good things about it. Nice location on the hill of the Alhambra in a quiet residential area. Beautiful terrace and grounds overlooking Granada. Immaculately clean and modern facilities. Helpful hosts Miguel and Paula treat you like family. The location means a bit of a walk downhill to the center of town, but it's totally worth it! If we return to Granada, we will definately stay here again!
