My boyfriend and I were traveling through Spain (Barcelona, Granada, and Madrid) and this was our favorite place along the way. In fact, it is quite possibly the most pleasant hotel stay I have ever had! The hotel is beautiful--very well-kept, tasteful decor, terraces with incredible views of the city and the Sierra Nevadas. It's an easy walk down into town or up to the Alhambra or the Albayzin. The color scheme and the airy feel of the place were serene and calming. We almost didn't want to leave to see the sights.

We stayed in El Cipres, a double on the second floor. It was painted a lovely muted color, had ample closet space and very soft bedsheets. It also had its own small terrace, perfect for reading in the afternoon or sipping wine in the evening. Breakfast or drinks were served on a larger communal terrace with a lovely fountain and amazing views. The breakfast was simple but bountiful--pan con tomate, ham, cheese, cereals, yoghurt, fresh juice, coffee, etc.--and a reasonable 8 Euros extra.

But the real highlight of the place is its staff. Manuel, the owner, is, as others have mentioned, a wonderful host. He's charming and kind, and a tremendous resource for anything you might want to do in Granada, from walking tours to restaurants. My map was filled with his markings by the time we left. Paula, who works at the desk at night, is also lovely, and went out of her way to help me book our bus tickets for Madrid. We felt right at home at this lovely carmen, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a small hotel with a personal touch.

We stayed in ‘La Torre’ and were very impressed. The room is stylishly decorated, spotlessly clean and has a very large terrace, with beautiful views over the city and the Sierra’s in the distance. The rest of the hotel is equally impressive, with a breakfast terrace, garden and a relaxing lounge/library area full of comfy chairs and books about Andalusia.

The owner, Manuel, is a very friendly and engaging character, who went out of his way to make us feel welcome and help with our travel plans for the Alpujarras (well worth a day trip, amazing scenery – around 9 Euro’s by coach from the main bus station).

The hotel is less than 10 mins walk from the Alhambra in one direction and down to the centre of town in the other. If you are as lazy as us & can’t be bothered to walk back uphill at night, there are taxi’s everywhere & the ride will only set you back 4 Euro’s. Breakfast was simple but tasty and good value and overall we were very pleased with our choice.

Highly recommended hotel. Very helpful and knowledge owner. A short walk uphill to the Alhambra ticket office. A short walk downhill for lively plaza for drinks and food and watching Spanish life.

We stayed in El Torro, spacious and cool, en suite with large balcony.

We couldn't have been cared for better.

My wife and I stayed here 4 nights at the end of September. We agreed after our stay that it had been the best small hotel experience
in all our travels over many years. This hotel/guest house has just completed 3 years of existence having been rebuilt and decorated by our host Manuel and his family who have lived next door since the early 70's. Its been done in exquisite taste with balconies, terraces 2 living rooms and a huge library of books on Andalucian art and architecture.
It is perched on the Alhambra hillside with 180 degree views on the Sierra Nevada and Granada. Manuel presides over a simple continental breakfast served in or out and will tell you of the must sees in Granada, make you an itinerary and provide right on choices for dining. Paula takes over in the afternoon and evening while finishing up her Phd in English. With Manuel and Paula, the setting and decor it is the most relaxing and enjoyable place to stay. Having this hotel makes 3 or 4 days in Granada a must. It is absolutely perfect.

This is an elegant, imaculately clean and perfectly appointed small hotel. We stayed for 4 days in June, and were very pleased with our choice. The interiors of the hotel are cool and calm - which after a hot day in the Granada sun, is very welcome.

Breakfast and afternoon drinks were had on a small terrace, overlooking the city of Granada - in fact the hotel has a great view of Granada and the Sierra Nevada mountains. Breakfast was simple, but good - especially the Spanish Toast, and an honesty bar was available if drinks were desired in the evenings.

Manuel was helpful, gave advice on travel, the Alhambra, queuing, restaurants, lent us maps - in fact could not have been more helpful or accommodating. I find it unbeleivable reading one of the other reviews that anyone could have had any unpleasant experience with him at all, he was always utterly charming (and apologised profusely for his 'poor' english).

Unless someone is looking for the 'big hotel' experience, I would recommend this hotel without any hesitation.
