As a previous reviewer writes, this hotel, and not much else, keeps popping up in various searches. And so it was booked with "fingers crossed" that it wouldn't be as bad as some of the reviews indicate. This is the first time I have been compelled to write a review as I feel very strongly that I must set the record straight; I had an EXCELLENT stay here. The initial impression is very impressive (entrance lobby and Reception) and this continues throughout - the service from all of the staff we dealt with could not be faulted, they were all extremely helpful and courteous. The room and bathroom was very well appointed and modern, nice touches of good quality toiletries, and the most comfortable bed ever!, we also had a wonderful view of the snow covered Sierra Nevada. Breakfast was very elegant - no help yourself buffet, all prepared/cooked fresh and to a high standard. The Spa is wonderful - although as the only people in it it felt as though was our own private Spa! That said, and the only negative comment I have, if this hadn't have been included in our package I don't believe is worth the 30 euros each extra as advertised. Yes, I would return to this hotel.

When I first arrived at the Hotel Nazaries I was captivated by the marble entryway and modern decor. I arrived late and met my fiance who had been waiting for me in the lounge area and was quite miffed at the poor reception she received. As her name was different than the one on the reservation she was unable to check in, and received a less than warm response when she asked for a glass of wine while she waited. Although she ultimately received a glass from the begrudged concierge, she feared to take a sip as she was almost sure that someone had spat into the chardonnay. By 12a m we had checked into our room, which was equipped with modern decor but severely lacking in some areas. 1. The air conditioning was completely non-functional. 2. The "King" bed is actually two twin mattresses pushed together (not acceptable for a romantic get-away) 3. Although the shower is extremely modern, and appears to be ultra-luxurious with an array of shower heads and jets, it is but a mere, messy, novelty. The "massage" settings will do nothing more that flood your WC as it sprays water in all sorts of un-relaxing directions. Due to the hotel's miserable location in the commercial district of Granada, and our late check-in, we were forced to order from the limited and overpriced room service menu. My fiancé's "Chicken Curry" resembled a combination of chicken, gravy, and french fries that one might find in a public high school cafeteria. My "Four Seasons Pizza" which lacked any explanation of ingredients on the menu, consisted of Sardines, Mushrooms, and an unknown strain of cheese, which was literally vomit inducing. Fortunately, the hotel is clean, and the maid cleaned up the mess in the deco, porcelain sink. To add insult to injury, when attempting to redeem a Spa Circuit/Breakfast Buffet package which had been included in our online reservation, the hotel reception refused to acknowledge our confirmed receipt and excused the issue as an online technicality. When attempting to negotiate the matter we received nothing but arrogance and a complete lack of hospitality as indicated by the annoyed team of receptionists which were responding to the issue. We believe that the poor service we received can be attributed in part to, our non-Spanish Nationality and relatively young age, despite our bilingual capabilities. What could be, at best, a four star establishment is entirely spoiled by a horrendous staff. Be weary of self-proclaimed Five Star Hotels like the Hotel Nazaries.

NO WAY, AC not working, food way over priced, staff hard to work with and also poorly located if seeing and walking around in Granada is what you want to see. Maybe in Granada the standards are really low for hotels, but I have no idea how this hotel deserves 5 stars, it is amazing. The wifi only worked is you sat in one special spot down in the lobby, my tv was mostly static, and the AC was missing nobs. Take my advice, avoid this place and find a nice spot downtown.

We have just returned from a weekend in Granada. After looking through several websites to get the best deal online (since we didn't have a lot of money to spend) we started to despair, because we were going on a bank holiday weekend and prices were shooting up. However, one hotel kept on popping up - 5* Nazaries Business and Spa, and thought it would be wonderful to stay there, but thought it would be out of our league.

Booking - Best Price: That is when we came over the 'Otel.com' website. All I can say is WOOOW...what fantastic prices! Much cheaper than any other website I had come across. At first I was worried that this was a con website. But when I called the hotel they confirmed all was OK.

The Hotel - The Pros: Beautifully decorated, great service with a smile, slippers are robes provided. Fantastic shower system, chocolates in the bedroom. There were even Champaign glasses in the room! Plasma TV screens ... everything was just so pleasant on the eye. FANTASTIC breakfast, with champagne included!

The Hotel - The Cons: Although the plasma was a nice touch, it could have done with a better TV channels. In English there was only CNN and everything else was in Spanish. Don't forget all the films are dubbed into Spanish. Also the Spa isn't included in the price...but we didn't have time to go in there anyway, although it did look inviting.

Tours: If you are planning to go to the Alhambra (palaces and garden) book it with your hotel. We went up there and they had sold out of tickets and only had tickets for the gardens. They were SOOOO very very very rude up their. Nobody was willing to help. We got told by one person working up there if we didn't speak Spanish to go away! Unbelievable! But I am sure it is well worth the visit, so don't miss out on it.

Places to go: We went to the area bellow the Alhambra, you can even see the castle from there. Wonderful area we loads of cheap tapas and flamenco bars. All the young Spanish go there, so if locals go, it must be good. Flamenco shows are about €20 including a drink, well worth the visit!

Driving: Driving is a nightmare there! They are all mad and there is no parking. We paid between €3 and €5 for a taxi from the hotel into town. You can walk which takes about 10 to 15 min.

All in all a place well worth a visit!

We've just spent 5 days in Granada, booked at the last minute. Horrendously early Ryanair flight but at least we were there for lunchtime. We followed advice and took the bus from the airport but unfortunately had a bit of communication problem with the driver and had to get a taxi when we got off. That wasn't too bad, about 4 or 5 euros, but when we got to the hotel - the Gran Luna de Granada- booked specifically for a pool, we were asked "Do you want the good news or the bad news?" ! There was no room - supposedly because of a leak - but we were being moved to their new hotel, the 5star Nazaries. I asked if it had a pool and was told "No" but there's a spa. And when I said that the whole point of booking there was for the pool, I was told, "Our pool isn't open" !! Beware, I booked through Hotels.com, who seemed to have the best price, but had made no mention of this fact. To cut a long story short, the Nazaries was very smart, all black marble and stuff and big flat screen tv (CNN on a loop!) but if we'd paid the going rate of 250 euros a night I'd have been extremely disappointed. The air conditioning took 3 men to sort, you were asked not to adjust it yourself! There was one smallish tinted window, so we had to have the lights on all day, whenever we were in. Nice new wardrobes, but not a single drawer, and the biggest insult of all, the beautiful spa cost 25 euros an hour to use! (We didn't!) All this on the 1st day, after a 3.30 rise, was enought to put us off. However, after a good night's sleep, we started to make the most of Granada. It was very busy and crowded but we enjoyed our few days. The Alhambra was amazing, the Albaicin district was great, the free tapas were wonderful and weather hot! Worth a visit if you're considering it. Nice little park that you may not find if you don't know about it is the Frederick Lorca park, really pretty and fresh on a hot day, when you haven't got a pool to cool off by! It's south from the cathedral, just look on any of the free maps. Also, the science park, if you're looking for something a bit different to while away an hour or two.
