“The perfect place to stay in Granada.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013

This place is perfect. My husband and I traveled throughout Spain for about 1 1/2 weeks and stayed at many different B&B type hotels and this one was the best. The location is perfect in Granada. The staff was very helpful. They have a parking garage. The hotel itself is understated, but stylish, and very clean. Our room was wonderful and spacious. The bed was very comfortable (great sheets and pillows). And the bathroom was big, very clean and very functional - it even had it's own balcony! This is an exceptional value and you're not giving anything up by not staying at some expensive hotel.

It was the best feeling 4 days ago when I arrived in Granada and the place was so much better than expected even after reading all the reviews. I walked in and the staff member spent over 30 minutes walking through a map of Granada with me - highlighting and circling where to eat, what sites to see, what buses to use, and how to get day of tickets to the Alhambra. His generosity with this time was comforting for someone traveling alone. The room was not overwhelmingly comfortable but for the price was perfect (extremely reasonable price). The cleaning people - folded my clothes each day which I thought was way above the standard of service expected. Overall - if I return to Granada - I will definitely being staying at Hostal Rodri.

Thing to think about - the location is good, however, I had two early morning walks (one for the airport and one for the Alhambra) - I didn't love the safety of the surrounding streets and the location is a little dark. However, it is only a 5 minute walk to the cathedral and then 15 to Plaza Nueva (this would be a better area to be in at night and early in the day).

I only do this when something is exceptional, and Rodri is just that. I agree with all the recent reviews about the quality of the hotel. It was totally refurbished 4 years ago and the decor is amazing. Jose as they say is the perfect host with all the advice you need. We were lucky with car parking. He put it into his small garage which kept it very safe for the stay. If no space their then public parking is only 150m away. Driving there is easy if you leave the E902 at jn 128 and follow the signs. The last turn looks like a pedestrian alley, but drive down and Jose does the rest. We had a beautiful room on 3rd floor (the lift is like one in a 5* hotel). On the 3rd floor is a small open terrace with tables where we chilled and watched the swifts feed morning and dusk. Great mattress and pillows (in Spain!) Fabulous place. *****star

Room Tip: From what we saw they are all good

This small pension is centrally located, close to bars, restaurants, shops, the cathedral, yet on a quiet side street. As soon as you walk in you realize what a gem this is - beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, and quiet. The host, José, was very helpful with directions and suggestions. Within moments of registration he pulled out a map and identified and labelled key sights, bus stops (to the Alhambra), and recommended restaurants. If you like, he can arrange tours and appointments (e.g. he arranged an out-of-town olive oil tour (which I highly recommend!) and a massage/bath at nearby Arabic baths (hamman).
The room was very clean, comfortable, and quiet.
In short, an incredible deal for the quality of lodging, in such a central location.

My husband and I really loved everything about Hostal Rodri-except that we were expecting a pension or B & B, and this place is a hotel. There is no kitchen, breakfast service, common area, or any of the things we normally associate with a pension. Additionally, booking.com said that parking would be available for 12 euros a day-but there was no parking on site. We drove around until we (luckily) found a spot in the street that was free.
That aside, it was probably the nicest place we stayed during our trip to Spain, and the price was wonderful. Rodri is in a wonderful location to sights and nightlife. It was easy to find, and the owner was wonderful. I recommend staying here.

From entering the town, the Rodri hostal was very clearly signposted all the way - very easy to follow. We arrived and were met by Jose. He parked my car in garage on site (12 euros/day). He was very helpful and using a street map guided us to the good attractions, bars and restaurants. The room was compact, spotless and air conditioned. The towels were changed daily. When we asked the chamber maid for a different type of pillow that was done right away - no problem. We were made feel very welcome and the location was at centre of town. We would definetly go back to this hostal.

I really cannot save enough good things about this "Hostal"/"Pension" (in quotes as, realistically, it is more like the quality of a hotel, just without the extra facilities).

All of the reviews here are exactly right. It is probably the best place we have ever stayed, and many of the places we have stayed have been far more expensive than Hostal Rodri.

Firstly, it was immaculate. The bedroom and bathroom were spotless when we arrived and cleaned to a similar standard each day.

Secondly, it was very comfortable. The room was a good size, with plenty of storage, as was the bathroom. The rooms are modern and very adequately size.

Thirdly, the service was excellent. Upon arrival we had assistance in taking our bags to our rooms, after having Granada thoroughly explained to us - with a detailed map provided of all the highlights. Additionally, as the carpark was out of order (they were doing up the street during our stay), our host kindly assisted us to take our car to a nearby car park.

Fourthly, and probably least importantly given the other criteria, the price. It's almost too good to be true; to get this standard of accommodation and experience for 45 euro a night.

We loved Granada, and we loved Hostal Rodri. After 3 weeks in Spain, this really was one of the highlights. We would have absolutely no hesitation in returning here and wouldn't consider anywhere else.

In summary, great location, great room, great service, great price.
