I just spent 2 nights at the Ladron del Agua as part of a a 2-week trip to Spain and was really thrilled with the experience.
The hotel is fantastically located in the central cultural area of Granada and across the street from the Alhambra Palace. As others have noted, Granada is not the easiest place to navigate by car. Even parking just to unload luggage was tricky--we had to pull the car up right to the front wall, get out the passenger side, and run the bags in before the passing minivans started honking! But once we got rid of our car--surprisingly finding a parking spot just down the street--we were fine.
The staff is fantastic. There are 3 employees who run the front desk--Alberto, Puri, and Elena. And they are all very friendly, welcoming, and ready and willing to help. I contacted them a week in advance and they arranged to reserve spots for a guided tour to Alhambra Palace--when I arrived, all was set.
The hotel is a lovely and cool renovation. The lobby atrium area could be done better--the deco furniture is a bit incongruous. But the rooms are super comfortable. I book the second largest room in the hotel--the Sueno del Isabel, and had imagined it as a larger suite. But like I said, extremely comfortable and tastefully done. The bathroom also appears spanking new, with attractive tilework, two sinks, etc.
The hotel has excellent internet access via one computer in the library downstairs--nobody was ever using it. One drawback--they don't have the huge staff of a larger hotel to get things done. My safe was broken and we asked several times over a few days to have it fixed, but to no avail. I think they didn't want to disappoint us by saying no!
Overall, I would definitely come back for another stay--next time without a car--and would recommend this property to others.
