This is a lovely hotel and the location is excellent. Room/bathroom spotless, good decor and beds were large and comfy. Staff were really helpful - booked us excellent seats at the flamenco ballet and also managed to get us a dinner reservation at the Parador in the Alhambra grounds at pretty short notice (best meal of the holiday in a wonderful setting).
We had ear plugs and slept like logs!
Definitely recommend it.

  • Liked — relaxed and comfortable
  • Disliked — noise from street
  • Tips/Secrets: — visit the Alhambra as early in the day as possible in the summer (and at night)

My fiancee and I stayed here at the beginning of August. We booked the Generalife Suite, the best room in the hotel, with views of the Alhambra. The room was great, although could use a little more color. The view from the balcony was spectacular. The location of the hotel is great too, central to everything. Above all, the staff are out of this world. The best are Elena, at the reception who has a wonderful smile and went out of her way to help me find a pharmacy at midnight when my fiancee was feeling sick. Also, the night manager was awesome, and brought us up bottled water to the room while my fiancee was sick and refused to take a tip when I offered. Overall, a great place, well worth it. The only downside, which is a consideration for the Generalife Suite at least, was the noise from the street, even during the night.

We've just returned from staying at this hotel for two days. It is an interesting hotel and the staff are friendly but there is a noise problem, particularly if you are a light sleeper.
We didn't dine here but the breakfast was OK but not a great deal of choice. Very handy for everything in Granada as it was only a 10 minute walk from the city and if you want to explore the Albacin, you're actually at the base of it at this hotel.

My husband and I and our 15 year old daughter stayed at this lovely hotel in June in the Generalife room. This was a very large room with classic mudejar decor and a jacuzzi tub. It was bright but did face the street side so there was a little road noise, but we were fine with earplugs (a must for Spain). The staff was the friendliest and most helpful of any where we stayed in Spain (Seville, Madrid), especially Olga, who prepared a delicious, light tapas dinner for us on our final night. The lobby was beautiful and the views out our windows of the Alhambra and the city were to die for. We did not have breakfast at the hotel due to other plans, early departure, etc. I highly recommend lunch at the outdoor patio at the Parador de Granada (Alhambra grounds). We would definitely stay here again!

El Ladron de Agua (which means water thief) is a superb small, character hotel. It has amazing touches like a bubbling water feature in the middle of an open courtyard- very restful -which is ringed by balconies with rooms- and big colourful wrap around artwork in the foyer. The dark woodwork, the artwork, the furniiture and bathrooms of the rooms are beautiful - a mix of very contemporary and historical detail. We stayed in a special double, which was great - our room was a bit dark but it was quiet. Some rooms face the front which would probably be brighter but potentially noisier. If you are a couple- I would suggest asking for twin beds as the double beds in Spain tend to be small. There is a room off the courtyard which feels like you are in someone's living room with free internet access and a bookcase. Art is on the walls throughout the hotel - giving it a gallery feeling. The breakfast is in a cellar of sorts- and was very good (not cheap though). The location is directly below the hill where the Alhambra sits- and is right in the Albayzin area. The only problem is if you are arriving by car- it's impossible! I would reccommend leaving your car at a garage outside the old quarter and getting to the hotel by taxi. The staff were very helpful, courteous and spoke good English. All in all a very memorable stay. NOTE one of us almost got pick pocketed right outside the hotel so be on guard.
