Fantastic hotel, full of character and charm. Perfect place for lovers of genuine hospitality and authentic architecture. Rooms are all different and have their own charm, spotlessly clean and nothing is too much trouble for the friendly staff. It is very central and great for wandering to your favourite restuarants after drinks and tapas at the friendly bar downstairs. This is our favourite place in Spain and we go for a few days whenever we can just to relax. It really is worth it!

We loved this hotel. The staff were friendly, the hotel was historic and charming, the room was lovely with lots of space and marvelous views, the location to either the Albaicin or Placa Nueva could not be beaten - in short, no complaints.
Like other reviewers we chose to stay in room 201 because you can see what you are getting in the Hotels website. We often find it better to book the best rooms in the small hotels rather than the ok rooms in the expensive hotels. We got a good rate of 100euros + tax. I know it is possible to find much cheaper rooms in Granada but for a more relaxed and "spanish" feel to your holiday the Carerra del Darro really is ideal. And if you are lucky your hotel will be around a lovely historic central courtyard like this one. Ok - I agree the tv reception was a little shaky but added extras like a kettle and fridge made up for it. No coffee provided by the way - just tea - and our fridge was stocked - just not turned on! hey ho. I will let my photos tell the rest! Oh it is a little noisy - but not "city" noisy as such. Ducks and geese quacking and honking - church bells tolling on the hour - that kind of thing.

We got room 101 which was on the main floor but the room was very pleasant, spacious, tastefully decorated and had an enclosed balcony overlooking a little pedestrian street and the del Darro river. Just 5 minutes from Plaza Nueva from where you can catch the Alhambra buses. Good service, excellent location and we couldnt have asked for more! (pity about the tv reception though)

We stayed in Hotel Zaguan for two nights at the end of September. We had booked room 201 - the Bridal Suite via the internet. We are a lesbian couple and were a little concerned that in generally conservative Andalucia there might at least be a raised eyebrow from hotel staff but there was nothing but warmth and friendlyness.

Took a taxi from the bus station and arrived at the hotel, it is on a small and narrow street, parking with one's own car would be very difficult as would unloading a lot of bags and people as the traffic can be busy at times. The street runs alongside a small river with geese and at time of visiting 8 cats living quietly on the river bank in reasonable harmony with each other!

The hotel is a simply but beautifully decorated 16th century palace, all rooms with a window at the front of the hotel have a view up the hill of the Alhambra, 201 has an excellent balcony for people watching on the street below and a sitting room area with a fridge (empty). The hotel has a lift from reception but stairs up to reception from the street and a tapas bar/cafe downstairs. We didn't eat there but it served very good coffee while listening to relaxed Brazilian Bossanova music and chatting with the very helpful and friendly staff. It was all spotlessly clean and the staff were the friendliest encountered on the whole two week trip!

The hotel is very central, walking distance, to all of the Albaycin and a 4 minute walk from the bus to the Alhambra. Having walked about and seen the locations of other hotels reviewed and recommended, I would find that the Zaguan is in a better location than most while retaining it's history and having faultless staff.

I would highly recommend this hotel.

hotel, very reasonable in a superb location.

Granada is small and this boutique type hotel is in a superb location near good restaurants and close to the Alhambra.

Stay here or the El L'Adron hotel next door. Both are lovely.
