Deceiving from the outside, but once you're in, a real gem. A charming small hotel very worthy of its rating. Nicely decorated rooms. Very clean and well located. We were ready to stay more nights, if we could. The staff was incredibly helpful and spoke good English. They helped us arrange a 5:45 a.m. taxi to the airport and offered to give us breakfast to go.
Positives:
Great location: easy walking distance of the city centre and numerous bars, restaurants and shops. Having read some comments about safety issues (and previously having been mugged in Barcelona), we always felt safe walking around this area. You can easily get a bus up to the the other areas (or walk if you have the energy).
The room was reasonably sized (we had a superior room on the first floor). It was very clean and tidy and had a good shower.
Very good breakfast in the basement.
Neither good nor bad:
Staff were always polite, if sometimes a liitle detached. In the breakfast room they tended to be more cheerful.
Quite a lot of street noise, but no more than you would expect in a city centre in Spain. Take ear-plugs if this is a problem.
Negatives:
The main negative: the beds! We found them really hard and after a long day's walking they did not offer a good night's sleep.
A real shame when so much effort has obviosly been put into other aspects of the hotel.
The towels were occasionally a bit tatty.
The Palacio del Los Navas is a nicely -- but very simply -- done boutique hotel. In our small, tidy room, everything was white and not very high on unique charm -- a little surprising considering the room was as expensive (120 Euros) as some much more luxurious boutique hotels we stayed at in other Spanish cities.
But the service was the best we experienced on the trip. We were having trouble finding a hotel in our next destination and the woman at the front desk made it her personal mission to call around and find us a nice place to stay in Ronda.
The location is a good one, on a pedestrian street where you can walk to lots of tapas bars and the main plazas.
We stayed here in mid-October for three nights, in a first floor room. The room and hotel furnishings were very nice, and a cut above standard hotel decor. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was a high standard of cold buffet. I thought the location was excellent, being within easy walking distance of the major city centre sights. Having walked around the Albacyn one afternoon, I am glad that we chose this more central location. The hotel opens onto a pedestrianised street of tapas bars, on which we found the Divisa Blanca Taberna to be excellent - complementary tapas are served with reasonably priced, good quality glasses of wine. We were less impressed with the Nuevo Restaurant next door to it.
Noise from the street was audible, although it did not cause us too many problems, and it would not deter me from staying here again.
