My partner and I are in our mid 30's and booked this following the reviews we found on this site. We stayed for 1 night in May 2007.
Our experience was an excellent one - we travel quite a lot and like our comfort!!
In short - the room was very clean and really comfortable. The free water and cold drinks in the fridge were very welcome as we arrived. There was an excellent range of complimentary toiletries, shoe shiner, combs etc. The rooms can be air conditioned or heated to your own requirements. The hotel has been newly refurbished and has a lot of history - Abadia means Abbey in Spanish.
The owner told us that the kettles in the rooms were specifically to cater to the British guests - what was not obvious is that they will provide you with free tea/ coffee etc on request - they don't leave it in the rooms as they worry that sugar would attract insects. We advised them to add a small card in the rooms informing guests of this.
The courtyard with fountain is delightful for a quiet sit down after the bustle of the city.
The reception staff were very friendly and gave us a lot of advice about buses, best areas for restaurants, tapas bars etc.
The owner/manager couldn't have been more helpful - he parked our car for us, carried our luggage, offered to store our luggage on our last day and offered us an opportunity to freshen up after our walk around the city, before we left. He also gave us directions to our next destination as we were unused to driving in the city.
We found that the hotel was very close to good cafes/ restaurants and enjoyed excellent value food on the menus del dia.
