We stayed for 1 night only at the Abadia hotel in granada at the end of a fantastic 10 day trip through Andalucia. Looking at the map before driving into granada I was concerned that we were not right in the centre of town, but that is not the case - it is a very walkable city - we walked from the hotel, through the university district, up past the cathedral and up to the Albayzin quarter overlooking the alhambra - back down through other areas of the city and back to the hotel - all with 2 children in sweltering heat - and no one complained - so it really is very accessible to all that granada has to offer. With reference to a previous comment about driving - i was dreading the journey in to granada - I have driven here on a previous visit and got totally lost - but the directions the hotel gave were excellent and it is actually very well signposted from early on (I don't know if these signs are new but they are a great help).

The hotel itself is absolutely charming - the biggest selling point the wonderful staff. We accidentally booked the rooms for the wrong night so arrived on a saturday having booked for the previous night. Luckily they had 2 rooms we could fit into, and very generously charged us less than the full rate for 1 room only for the previous night. All the staff we encountered spoke perfect English, gave us really helpful advice and a detailed map on which they highlighted restaurants, cafes, street markets etc. the owner in particular was absolutely charming - we forgot to ask his name - but many thanks. I travel a lot on business so am used to staying in very expensive corporate hotels (most of which i hate - totally lacking in atmosphere). This hotel equals any of these in cleanliness and surpasses them in value for money. It is tucked off down a fairly grotty side street but this means it is quiet too. And it really is close enough to all the action. We will definitely be back (the city is wonderful) and i will recommend the hotel to all my friends too. what a brilliant find from previous trip advisor reviews.

Stayed for three nights in June 2006. Single traveller. Ground floor room adjoining courtyard. No noise from street but thin interior walls - not a great problem. Room fine - spotlessly clean, large well equipped bathroom.

Most impressive feature: extremely friendly and helpful staff. Whoever was on duty was pleasant and did everything to help. They all spoke excellent English. I needed to buy an adaptor for my phone charger but one was offered to me at reception as soon as I mentioned it; I made a call to England from my room using the hotel line and I wasn't charged for it.

I'd definitely go again.

My daughter and I are travelers. We have visited many places within the US, Mexico, Canada and Europe. A month ago we visited Spain, our motherland. La Madre Patria. This words are very often use by Latin Americans when talking about this beautiful country. Needless to say, after hours of traveling by train from Madrid to Granada, we were happy when we checked in at Abadia Hotel. We were amazed how friendly the staff was. My daughter and I were very impressed when listening to them greeting and talking to the guests in different languages, not to mentioned how exquisite their Spanish was! Abadia Hotel has so much more to offer then many other hotels I have stayed in before. The staff was very knowledgeable of the Andalusia Region. Fermin one of the staff members gave us tips of places to visit outside the city limits. We decided to follow his advised and visited The Alpujarras, a breath taken place where one will find, Capileira, the tallest village in Spain. What a wonderful and healthy experience. I, a writer for children's books, am now inspired to write a tale on this region. If you visit Granada make sure you make Abadia Hotel your hotel. Thank you Jose Antonio, Roseline and Fermin for 7 wonderful days in your hotel.

We stayed one night in this lovely hotel, but wished we could have stayed longer. Very well located in the center of the city, close to public transportation (to the Alhambra), even though it is very quiet because in a small street next to the main one. The staff was very helpful, volunteering to keep our bags for us when we checked out, giving us directions...etc. The room was very clean and spacious. It has AC that doesn't work if you leave the windows open (for ecological reasons) and the bathroom is also fine.
If you are driving, it is very hard to find!!!
