I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. I took my mother here for a city break and we really enjoyed it. The room was small but well appointed and very warm. (It's very cold in Granada in winter.) The beds were comfortable, rooms and patio were charming and exceptionally clean and the hotel is quite centrally situated within easy walking distance of the city attractions and 2 minutes walk from a main bus route up to The Alhambra. The hotel is also very quiet, no small feat in Granada! It's very easy to get to from the airport shuttle and the staff provided very good directions in English. Although this is a room only hotel there are plenty of cafes and restaurants close by where you will pay local prices rather than the tourist prices in the middle of town.
I got food poisoning while we were in Granada (nothing to do with the hotel). The staff could not have been more helpful. They provided medicines, bottled water and much needed support for my Mum who spoke no Spanish and was quite anxious. They contacted a doctor and helped her access the airline website to confirm return flights etc. They also allowed us to stop in the room way beyond check out time and arranged a taxi to the airport. They were exceptional and refused any form of payment for all their assistance.
I would not hesitate to return to Hotel Albadia.

I have now stayed at this hotel 3 times over three years, as well as advising others to stay there. The most recent time (2 weeks ago), we arrived at 6.30am, and the staff kindly took our bags and said they would phone us to let us know when the first room was available. As check in is usually after 12, we were expecting a long wait, but at 9am we got a phone call from reception telling us our room was ready. The manager remembered me from my previous visits, despite it being over a year ago, and treated us like friends, even offering to let us stay in his villa in the Alpujarras next time we return to the region!
I can´t think of anything negative to say about the Abadia. It is beautifully decorated, with a typical Andalucian patio. This is especially good in the evenings for having a relaxing drink before you go out. The rooms are also nicely decorated, have good air conditionning and are really clean. I have also never experienced any noise problems at this hotel, but have always stayed on the 1st or 2nd floor. However i wouldnt have thought this would be a problem as the hotel is on a very small street.
As i said, the customer service is amazing - the best i have ever experienced in any hotel!! The staff are extremely knowledgable about the area and are willing to help with any queries or problems.
The hotel is about a 15 minute walk to the town ´centre´ (the end of Gran via and Plaza Nueva area)
There is a great place to have breakfast near the hotel called Zeluan, which staff recommend at the hotel.
For tapas, some of the best places are at the Plaza Nueva end of Calle Elvira, near the tea shop street. They are called La Bella y la Bestia, Antigualla 1 & 2 and there is also a great place for falafel and schwarmas on plaza nueva (Nemrut Kebab). Other good tapas places are Poe, a small moroccoan place on call paz and lax, which are all almost next to each other around calle paz and buensuceso with puentezuelas. For Italian food (having tried 8 different ones in Granada!) the best restaurant in Granada is Il Gondoliere, on Calle Martinez Campos, just off Recogidas. It is always packed from 10 onwards but if you get there before then you should be fine getting a table without reservation.
When i next return to Granada i will definitely be staying at the Abadia- i don´t think it can be beaten on price, quality and service.

This was our second visit - we stayed 15 months ago. We received a "welcome back" second to none and were treated like old friends. The staff are delightful and all speak very good English. Nothing is too much trouble for the Manager and his staff. The hotel has been beautifully restored and is ideally situated for the tourist attractions, shopping and public transport. It also has a garage for those wishing to drive there.

The fact that there are no breakfast facilities is NOT a disadvantage as there are numerous places to eat almost on the doorstep, with a great choice of tapas bars/restaurants/ cafes etc. all close by to suit all tastes.

Should we return to Granada we will certainly stay at the Abadia Hotel.

We were pleasantly suprised by this room for the price, the staff were absolutley fantastic, the hotel was in an historical building that had been nicely renovated, it was in a central location, rooms newly done and very clean, highly recommended.

  • Liked — The authentic refurbushing of the building as an old house with a very nice courtyard
  • Disliked — They need open a cafeteria and serve breakfast in the patio.

This stylish hotel is situated perfectly in the city of Granada. It is only a 5 minute bus ride away from the Alhambra and only a 10 minute walk into the city centre to the cathedral and the Albayzín (old quarter). The hotel staff are very plesant and extremely helpful in giving out maps and information on the city in numerous languages. The hotel itself is of both Granadian and Arabic style. The rooms are beautifully decorated and boast a television, a phone, a fridge and kettle with condiments as well as free wireless internet. I had a most fantastic time at the hotel and the fabulous city of Granada. I would DEFINATELY recommend this hotel and I myself would stay here again in the future.
