We stayed 6 nights in this lovely Carmen. The building is in a small street in the old part of the town (Albayzin). In its centre is a beautiful covered courtyard where you can sit and have breakfast.
It is full of atmosphere and nicely furnished. We felt very much at home there and enjoyed the kind staff very much. .
The garden is small and nice. There is a tiny pool in it.

This Carmen is a very nice place to stay for visiting Granada: nearly all important sightseeing places are close by.

The suite (we got an ungrade) and terrace with view towards the Alhambra is beautiful and generally quiet.

We would have liked to have a televisionset there for the news and a portfolio with information on sights and practical local items including restaurants and information on busses, taxi's a.s.o.

Some of the rooms are pretty small and do not have as much daylight as the Alhambra suite. The bathroom can be improved with better lights, bathfoam, more floormats a.s.o.

The staff is very helpful and kind. Not all of them speak English.
Breakfast is excellent. We had dinner one evening there and that was good.

  • Liked — The staff, the atmosphere, the nice building, the comfortable room with view
  • Disliked — maybe the bathroom and sometimes the difficult communication with some of the staff that donot speak English

This was a lovely gracious hotel about a twenty-minute walk from the Alhambra. The hotel looks like it was converted from a large house in an ancient part of the city. We stayed in the second floor bedrooms, which were comfortable,. We ate breakfast in a beautiful walled and shaded garden .
The staff at this hotel was friendly, accommodating and helpful in suggesting restaurants or sights to see. They sent us to a fabulous restaurant with a wonderful view of the Alhambra on our first night. I would happily return.

We have just returned from week -long stay at Carmen del Cobertizo duting which we were joined by our 3 grownup sons and their partners. The hotel was perfect in every way.

Once we stepped over the threshold though the big wooden door we were in a different world. a world of quiet tranquility and old fashioned hospitality. All our rooms were lovely and there were lots of places to sit and chat together or quietly read. Not having a television was a real bonus and we missed nothing as there were English papers every day.

Breakfast may seem expensive but they aren't - they are a veritable feast. Cereals, freshly squeezed orange juice, wonderful fruit salads, hams, cheeses, eggs( any way you want them) bacon, toast, croissants, sweet cakes, home made jams, honey....... we definitely did not need lunch!

But the best things about the hotel are Rocio, Anna and Maria. Anna and Rocia were extremely hospitable and helpful and would go to any lengths to find us information we needed. Maria is a gem and immensely hospitable. She organised delicious cakes and wine for my husband's birthday - on the house. Drinks and almonds were offered when we returned from a hard day's sight seeing. Fruit and water appeared on silver trays in our room and one evening, when were too tired to go out to dinner and were sitting quietly reading, Maria appeared with a plate of ham, cheese, olives and fruit - all delicious and , again, on the house.

The hotel is ideally situated, in a quiet alleyway just yards from the main street through Albaicin and 2 minutes form the Plaza Nueva. We had the front door key and it was really like a home from home. If we go back to Granada, it will be to go back to the Carmen del Cobertizo - we enjoyed every minute of our stay in this lovely old house.

This hotel is beautifully decorated and full of charm. It is a two-story building with rooms for guests facing the interior atrium. The home used to house many families in its separate rooms, and the welcoming reading room once was where the families' animals were kept. The original water fountain is still in place in the middle of that same open area, and the sunlight and heat are dampened by a canvas “ceiling” that is pulled closed to cover the main atrium.

Our room and bath were small but adequate (we're both very tall), and we had the extra bonus of having attached to our room the walkway/room that originally connected both the current and next door buildings. Breakfast, which was served communally at the large table in the atrium, was just perfect. Credit must be given to Laura and Michael from anamazinghotel.com, our on-site travel consultants who specialize in small boutique hotels, for finding this perfect hotel (along with several others) for us.

After struggling with my meager Spanish for several days, finding English-speaking Ana, the concierge at the hotel, was a huge mental/verbal relief. She was just delightful, shared much about the city, made good recommendations, and served us wine, coffee, and cookies outside on the patio whenever we so much as blinked. She proudly showed us the building’s lovely “bodega,” the actual kitchen of the house which has just recently been restored.

The hotel is located in a terrific spot close to the Daro River where you can look up and see the Alhambra. Several excellent restaurants and outside cafes are in the area. The only possible down side to the hotel is the lack of “sound privacy,” meaning that because the rooms are close together and you have the option of closing your room’s door with curtains rather than using the door, there isn’t a lot of night-time privacy. Not the best place for a honeymooning couple.

  • Liked — The authenticity of the house, the decor and arrangement, the staff, the patio, the food treats
  • Disliked — the lack of
