We arrived at the hotel (from Seville) late on a Monday afternoon and from the moment we entered were treated to excellent service. The staff were fantastic booking taxis, restaurants, taking bags to the rooms - everything you'd expect from a 5* hotel.

Rather than head into town we decided to eat at the hotel restaurant (Senzone) and I have to say it was superb. I had the suckling pig and my girlfriend had the duck, both were first class. They weren't accompanied by a mountain of pasta or rice, but we just ordered a dessert and were again treated to excellence. It's is just a shame that the restaurant was so quiet, it's well worth a visit and like the hotel, the staff are highly attentive.

The hotel room was clean, spacious and the huge bed was fantastic. We stayed in the 'palace' part of the hotel (albeit for a few extra euros) and even though the room was on the front of the hotel we weren't woken by noise from the street below.

Overall this is a great hotel (about a 20/25 minute walk from the Alhambra ticket offices) which I would happily recommend to friends.

The ultimate irony - one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever been in, with some of the best linen, yet so much shouting and screaming on the street below, from midnight to 6.15am, that I slept scarcely a wink. It's an OK hotel, but only that. I expected a nice period building, but my room was in a new wing that had limited storage, samey trendy decoration and too many knobs and dials to get familiar with (it took ages to figure out the rainforest shower and shower hose in the wet room, though the toiletries are of a very high standard). The leather, studded table and uncomforable chair were hopeless for business, and it took us 10 minutes to get reception to send a barman to the small bar, astonishing in an alleged five-star property. As for the restaurant, well, don't expect to leave it feeling full. Our main course was pork and scallions. Only pork and scallions. No supplementary vegetables, potatoes, rice or pasta were offered. Overall, an experience that should have been unique was simply sterile and depressingly familiar, and the noise was the final straw. I certainly don't recommend paying the rates advertised if you're going to be awoken several times a night by inconsiderate yobs in the street and don't understand why the local police cannot do something about such anti-social behaviour in a residential district

  • Liked — The bed
  • Disliked — The fact that I couldn't sleep because of street noise

This hotel is in a renovated old villa. It's a beautiful old building with modern furnishings. The rooms are very nice, roomy bathrooms. Breakfast was also quite good. When we checked into our room it smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. They had no non-smoking rooms available, so that was a minus for our stay. Also, people were allowed to smoke at breakfast. The furnishings are nice - obviously a designer needed to do something special. I think the furnishings could be made to fit with the villa a little more, but that's just a matter of taste. The staff were all very nice and helpful, and there is a large parking lot under the hotel. It's walking distance to the shopping district and it's also not too far to walk to the Albaicin.

Without a doubt this is the best hotel in Granada. It offers incredible oasis like privacy in the midst of a very vibrant city. The staff treated us like royalty. We enjoyed the Arabic style ceilings in the lobby and the courtyard was nice change of pace from the bustling city. The Hotel Manager gave me an historic explanation of this palace that was almost destroyed but thankfully was saved by Hospes Hotel Chain. Their investment in renovations is noteworthy. While we were here we must have seen at least 30 or 40 other hotels, none of which appeared from the street to offer the same type of privacy and seclusion....I recommend this hotel highly.

Booked directly with hotel website got it c.€100 cheaper
Excellent location hotel got good directions just take exit 129 from the main road and it led straight to the hotel
Could not miss it as its stunning looking
Staff were friendly and really enjoyed our stay
Also ate at the resturant as Granada is quite at night around this area loads of cafe bars but no real pubs
we were the only guests eating at the resturant and got an excellent waiter who really made our dining experience super
