This was a lovely hostel, the owners were very friendly and helpful, the rooms lovely and an excellent locaiton for visiting the Alhambra. Difficult to park near hotel though.

  • Liked — Friendliness
  • Disliked — street noise at night a bit boisy, no traffic only people, no double glazing
  • Tips/Secrets: — take ear plugs and use public transport to get there

La Ninfa is within walking distance of Alhambra (which I would definitely recommend) and the hostal is full of character and the staff were very friendly. Our room was smaller than we liked but I know that they did have some bigger rooms (we booked late so they were not available). The hostal is on the corner of a plaza and is surrounded by restaurants so no shortage of places to eat. The downside to this is that we were there on a Saturday night and it is true that the Spanish enjoy their nightlife and are very noisy while doing it!! Luckily for me this was my first nights sleep after a 50hr trip so although I was woken up numerous times from the noise I managed to get back to sleep each time. My husband had been in Spain for 10 days already so without jetlag to assist his sleep he did not have a good night.
Parking is free in the plaza but we needed to time our return each day to make sure there was a park available. I would stay here again but only during the week and would book earlier to get a larger room.

  • Liked — proximity to alhambra and to town
  • Disliked — noise

I used to live in Granada and always thought that if I came back I would try the Hostal La Ninfa because it always seemed like such a lovely place. I came back for a two night stay this year and so I booked it directly via email. When I arrived there was scaffolding being errected around the building and workmen on the 3rd floor and also I noticed that there was two building in progress on neighbouring properties. The first night I stayed wasn´t too bad, I had a room at the front on the second floor and the noise of the traffic was a little disturbing first thing in the morning but bearable, the workmen at the hostel were also directly above me and there was some noise from them, again just about bearable. The second night I stayed I was awoken at 7 o´clock in the morning by workmen on the neighbouring building sites shouting and hammering, then to top it all 3 truck loads of cement being delivered right out side my balcony. Obviously it was impossible to sleep even with all doors and windows closed so I gave up and went to the front desk to check out and also to complain that I should have been informed of these neighbouring building works in progess and that I should not be expected to pay the full price of my stay. The girl on the desk was unable to deal with my complaint and so called the owner to the hostal. She arrived 30 minutes later and was immediately confrontational and very rude about the fact that I was complaining and totally unwilling to listen to me at all, telling me that "This is Spain not England" and then threatening to call the police if I continued to press my point that I should have been notified about the building works when I booked. I eventually gave up and paid the full price of my stay and was then in no uncertain terms told to get out of the Hostal. Needles to say I was flabbergasted as such disgusting treatment by the owner and such unwillingness to even discuss a genuine complaint courtiously with a paying guest. I hasten to add that I will never stay there again and will recommend to my friends that they stay well clear if visiting Granada. I´d say to anyone that is still intent on staying at La Ninfa to try checking first about surrounding building works and also to ask for a room fathest away from them, if that´s possible. Unbelieveable !!

  • Liked — The Hostal has a nice rustic charm to it
  • Disliked — The managment and the service

My husband and I stayed at the Hostal La Ninfa on 20th & 21st January 2006. We had spotted the place whist on a flying visit last August, you can't miss it! The hostal is slightly eccentric in decoration (a plus point) very clean, heating in the rooms and non smoking. Friendly staff, great position - this area of town is full of typical bars and restaurants and handy for the Alhambra. The only things I would like to warn people about is that if you are visiting in winter take some slippers and unless you are staying out 'til 6 in the morning, take some earplugs! Otherwise perfect and for the price you can't beat it.

Rated above average only for those who can sacrifice comfort for some exquisite feeling of local romance and medieval atmosphere. Everything is a bit too narrow, but otherwise clean, friendly and nice. The decorations of the rooms and the hotel itself are marvellous.

Otherwise, walking distance to the centre- 15 min, you can walk actually to Alhambra too - 15 min. - of course the location is not the best. Though, the hotel is located on a small local square, where in the evening they open several openair restorans and bars.

I would not imagine staying at this place for a long time, since you will feel too squeezed.. Though for us it was not disturbing at all, rather exotic and funny.

In general - very cosy place to stay, we liked it a lot!
