We stayed here at the end of a 3 city trip in May. I noticed on a previous review a comment about the helpful lady on reception. If it was the lady when we visited she should win an award. A bright sunnt disposition and extremely helpful. She even tried in vain to see if she could get us tickets for a Roger Walters concert on the day of the event.
Our room was clean and the bathroom excellent. The location couldn't have been better, with just a walk up the hill to the Alhambra Palace. If the weather had been sunny it would have been a perfect stay. I don't suppose it's fair to blame the hotel for this.
Arrived and due to the lack of visitors we were up graded to the best room in the house. Small but absolutly fantastic. The staff could not have been more friendly. They help us arrange our trips and book taxis. Leave the hotel and turn left and left again and you arrive at the mini bus, 3 minutes from the hotel which take you to the Alhambra 7 minutes drive up a steep hill (get there in the morning before the crowds) In the evening go to the Aribic quater, again leave the hotel turn left and cross the road, great resturants. Back at the hotel we had the garden to our selfs, a low lit plant potted garden on 2 levels, this was best candle on the cake of the day, oh and they let you take your own drinks there too. Highly recomended hotel!
The lady on the desk here was one of the most helpful people I have come across. She booked our Alhambra tickets for us in advance (I had read that they would do this for us) after I emailed the hotel, she had very good recommendations for eating and drinking and shopping in Granada, and she generally made a fairly ordinary hotel quite exceptional. The room was tiny with no outside windows (just a skylight), and because of the cheap fit out in the building, the room was a bit noisy as well. It helped to shut off the door to our hallway. The hotel itself is in a great location, halfway up the hill to the Alhambra and opposite the old town.
Overall I would say that for the price the room was good, but don't expect too much.
Using Tripadvisor we choosed this hotel for our trip in Granada. To be honnest, we have nothing else but some good comments to make about La Puerta de las Granada. First, the location is terrific, on the street leading to the Alhambra. We were scared at first that I could be to crowdy and noisy, but not at all, it's actually quite a calm street! The Hotel is a short walk from every interresting places in the city! The staff is really helpful (they speak a very good english), they help us with places we were looking for, as soon as you arrived they give you advices on where to go, what to see, where to eat, etc... We booked the suite with a view on the catheral, the room was small, but really clean, we had 5 windows, great bathroom. We had access to a great terrace on the second floor, and internet acces on the first! Honestly, what else could you ask for?? By booking through the web, we had the suite for 90Euro a night, instead of 150Euro! We would go back anytime!
