Based on reviews on this website, we stayed here for two nights in July 2007. It was a perfect choice. The hotel is in a great location just a short walk from the Alhambra, and it was only about 70 euros/night (remember that was July 2007, so prices may be higher now due to the exchange rate). The front desk staff was extremely helpful in booking our Alhambra tickets ahead of time, and they were friendly while we were there. They also speak English which was helpful, as our Spanish is terrible. The only downside to this hotel is that the rooms are small. But we expected that, and literally just wanted a place to sleep at night. The room was very clean, and I had no complaints about the bathroom. For the price, we were extremely happy with this hotel for a short stay. For longer than 3 days, I might have wanted a bit more space to spread out.

We did not eat breakfast at the hotel, based mostly on reviews from this site saying that it was overpriced. There are tons of places within walking distance to get a coffee and a breakfast bread or pastry.

Do not try to rent a car and park at this place -- you can't. It's in a fenced off pedestrian zone that only taxis and other specific vehicles have access to. You don't need a car in Granada anyway.

Stayed at Puerta de las Granadas for two nights in Feb and we could honestly not fault this hotel. Before arrival the hotel had taken the trouble to email me to offer to book our tickets for the Alhambra. I would suggest that you do this, it may cost another couple of Euros but you do not have to queue when you get there!

On check in the hotel took considerable time and effort to take us through what to do, our tickets for the Alhambra and where to eat and drink, all in perfect English - you would not get this much attention in a 5 star hotel!!

The rooms are small but immaculately clean and very modern. There is a TV, hairdryer, safe, well stocked mini bar, free chocolates on arrival and power shower. We stayed in room 204 which is by the entrance to a beautiful courtyard/tearrace where we drank beers and chatted to some other hotel guests who also loved the hotel.

The breakfasts for E6 are well worth it, very well stocked and fresh continental buffet style.

There is also free internet access via two computers.

The best thing about this hotel is its location. It is situated on the quiet street that leads up to the Alhambra in the old district and a minutes walk from Plaza Nuevo where there many restuarants, coffee bars and tapas bars. A perfect place for a city hotel.

We booked through venere com and only paid E54 per room - what a bargain for a really good hotel!!

  • Disliked — Rooms were small - but you do not need big rooms on a city break!!!

Loved this hotel, the best place we stayed on our trip around Spain!

The staff were so helpful and friendly, gave us a map when we checked in, and told us where the best places to eat/have tapas/have a drink were. Also showed us the "must see sights", how to get there, and what buses to catch if we didn't want to walk. We were also interested in going up to the Sierra Nevada mountains, and they found out bus times for us. Our bathroom sink was also found to be leaking, and it was fixed immediately. Staff were just so helpful and friendly, always saying hello and goodbye when we came and went out, and spoke perfect english!

The hotel itself is on a quiet street in the middle of the city - about a 15min steep uphill walk to the Alhambra, or 1 minute walk down hill to the Plaza Nueva where you can catch buses up. The Plaza Nueva also has lots of outdoor restaurants to sit and eat and drink in the sun. Everything is within walking distance, lots of shopping, the cathedral, the hotel is in the perfect location!

The room itself was small, but adequate. We had a room with a "patio view", but very little natural light came through. Goodsize bathroom and shower, TV with CNN and BBC world. Free internet access - what more could you want?!

  • Liked — the location, the staff, the free internet
  • Disliked — little natural light in room

My husband and i stayed here for two nights . The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was small but everything seemed new. The street is quaint and close to all the sights. All in all we conidered this a great choice for a moderately priced hotel.

  • Liked — modern clean great location and in an area full of character
  • Disliked — small lift

My girlfriend and myself were looking for a central hotel at an OK price, and we do not regret staying at this hotel. The location couldn't be better, it being close to all the central sights, bars and restaurants. Even though it's so close to the bars etc, it's in a quiet side street, which eventually winds it's way up to the Alhambra.
We stayed there in July and it was about 38 degrees, and it was so nice to go back to the air-conditioned room for a siesta. In fact the air con was so effective that my girlfriend woke up shivering the first night, so I had to turn it down a bit. The room was small, but you really shouldn't spend much time in your hotel room when in such a great city, so that doesn't matter.
Unfortunately we couldn't take advantage of the patio as it was just too hot, however this would be really nice in spring or autumn.
The staff are very friendly and informative, speak good English, and can book tickets for the Alhambra for you.
The only down side of the hotel is the breakfast. We only had it once and then didn't bother again. However this was not a disaster as there are plenty of places to eat and a bakery just around the corner.

There is a nice bar just at the bottom of the street that have lots of nice and cheap wines, and free tapas with every drink of course. We were given muscles amongst other things.

  • Liked — Air conditioning in the clean room.
  • Disliked — The breakfast.
