I was very pleased with the Montecarlo hotel. I booked it at the last minute, it was the first cheap hotel I found on the internet. I was happy with my choice.
Of course it wasn't perfect, but for £22 a night what do you expect? The location was perfect, on a busy street, that reminded of central London with all the lovely shops and people strolling around. It was close to the airport bus stop, and the superb department store El Corte Anglais (great food hall in the basement) is just 5 mins away.
It is a grand feeling hotel with sweeping staircases. It is in need of renovation, my room had a mouldy smell and paint was flaking from the furniture. However the bed was comfy, the room was clean, the tv worked, the plumbing was fine and I felt perfectly ok about leaving valuables in my room. In a lovely city like Granada you don't exactly want to spend much time in your room anyway.
Im glad it hasn't been renovated as it would probably cost twice as much.
The reception staff were very efficient and polite. They let me leave my bag there for 7 hours after I had checked out. I think it is great value for money. Admittedly I was travelling alone, if I had been with a boyfriend I would rather stay somewhere more luxurious. I was there in April and there were school kids around, but they didnt seem particulary noisy to me.
