I was very pleased with the Montecarlo hotel. I booked it at the last minute, it was the first cheap hotel I found on the internet. I was happy with my choice.
Of course it wasn't perfect, but for £22 a night what do you expect? The location was perfect, on a busy street, that reminded of central London with all the lovely shops and people strolling around. It was close to the airport bus stop, and the superb department store El Corte Anglais (great food hall in the basement) is just 5 mins away.
It is a grand feeling hotel with sweeping staircases. It is in need of renovation, my room had a mouldy smell and paint was flaking from the furniture. However the bed was comfy, the room was clean, the tv worked, the plumbing was fine and I felt perfectly ok about leaving valuables in my room. In a lovely city like Granada you don't exactly want to spend much time in your room anyway.
Im glad it hasn't been renovated as it would probably cost twice as much.
The reception staff were very efficient and polite. They let me leave my bag there for 7 hours after I had checked out. I think it is great value for money. Admittedly I was travelling alone, if I had been with a boyfriend I would rather stay somewhere more luxurious. I was there in April and there were school kids around, but they didnt seem particulary noisy to me.

Basic but clean hotel with excellent buffet breakfast at nearby hotel and a good central location. However, entire stay was spoiled by noisy school groups and broken plumbing. Staff were apologetic but couldn't change the situation. Price was good : £40/night for 2 people including breakfast, but wouldn't stay again as chasing teenagers around the hotel til 5.00 am to tell them to shut up is no fun. As was having to put up with either a constantly running toilet or having it constantly bang noisily. Also, avoid the 3rd floor if you need to sleep during the day as the in-house laundry has the same effect on the plumbing. I now know the Spanish for "noisy" and "teenagers running wild"!

The hotel was in a perfect area being in the center of the city. However the room and hotel were outdated. The elevator is very old and tiny and weird. The room is small with old furniture. The bed was horrible and the hotel had control over the heater and it was very hot. Also I didn't feel comfortable about leaving things in our room. The breakfast was coffee and bread- not good. I wouldn't stay there unless you are desperate. Also the entire hotel was full of young school kids on a field trip and they were up screaming all night. You could hear everything with the paper thin walls and the shower was horrible and broken.

Stayed at the Hotel Montecarlo in July with a group of 8 lads on a stag party. The hotel is in an excellent location right in the centre of Granada with easy access to all the main attractions. From the airport we took the shuttle which dropped us off only 50 yards from the hotel door. Although the Hotel could do with a lick of paint here and there, it is very clean, the staff extremely helpful and overall very good value for money. For breakfast we were given a voucher which entitled us to breakfast at a 4 star hotel a couple of doors down the road. The breakfast was plentiful with a good selection of breads, pastires, fresh fruit, yogurt, sausage, bacon, eggs etc etc. For a budget break to a beautiful city, the Montecarlo fots all purposes.

The Hotel Montecarlo was a very nice hotel. For the price we paid, I was pleasantly surprised to find a nicely decorated hotel (although with somewhat small and confusing corridors) and very friendly staff. Our room was fairly large and had a small TV. We also had our own bathrrom. The room and the bathroom were very clean, and the beds were comfortable. Considering that the hotel is situated right in the centre of Granada, it was very quiet in our room. A simple breakfast is also included in the price of the room, and consist mainly of some bread and croissants and butter or jam and some juice. Tea or coffee is also available from a dispensing machine. Not all that great a breakfast. The only problem we encountered was with the shower head in the bathrrom. It wasn't held up and there wasn't enoughb water pressure when you held it up to your head. As a result, often had to slouch while showering.
