We stayed here from 9-13 July 07, upon arrival there was no concierge - albeit we arrived late - there was no 24/7 service. Tired and hungry we checked in - then located the 'room service' menu. This finished around 11o'clock - so was too late for food. Luckily we spotted some old doughnuts in a display on the bar and was given (nice) 2 of them (it was FOOD!) There was nothing else open in the neighbourhood either.
Next day breakfast ! served between 7-11 am my husband went earlier but I went about 09.50am - the burners for the eggs had been taken away - so there were cold solidified fried eggs, cold frittata, and cold scrambled eggs UGGHH. The cold meats and cheeses were good mind. If you're a tea lover - the water in the teapot under the heat lamps was so teppid it wouldn't even 'draw' the tea from the bag! and when milk was added - well - give up! Oh, and if you think you'll have a nice cuppa (something) upon waking - forget it - no tea or coffee makers in any rooms. Well, breakfast was like that all week - didn't change, or was a 'bad day'.
Wednesday night - been out had nice food in town, taxi back (as it's a bit of a way from the Biba Ramblas). Had a drink in our room, then I got into bed (all beds are singles, pushed together - even in the 'suites'! tell you bout that next! The sheets were WET - I don't even mean a bit 'damp' I MEAN WET...... both beds were cold and wet. Called for someone to come to room, no one there for a 4* hotel could speak German, French let alone English. He didn't understand - but kindly moved us (not our belongings) to another room up a floor - got into bed - same thing - WET SHEETs - must of been a 'batch' in laundry that day. Phoned again - another guy came up, he then moved us to the 'suite' well, I'm a conference organiser and view hotels and their rooms and suites for my boss. SUITE - this was a JOKE - the suite was the same as our room 2 floors down, only difference, there was a larger area to put your case and the window was twice the size!! Anyway, after all our hassels with the sheets we got into them on Thursday thinking that the maid would of changed them (I wish I'd ripped them all off the bed and left them outside the room) as the maid had just made the bed again and the sheets were still wet! we gave up - got the blankets out of the wardrobe and lay on them.
Next day my husband complained to the conference organisers who had booked this hotel and they were not happy with the hotel either - oh, pool, before I forget the photos look great - but it's a 'lane' pool about 6ft wide and the propper length of a pool not full size at all as the cleaver photography dipicts!
My husband tried to see the manager - who seemed to be on a permanent 'siesta'. We were going to write a letter - but I thought it would be an eye opener for other possible guests to read this for themselves. It was a joy to return to England!
