Tucked away on a relatively quiet street in the vicinity of the Ayuntamiento. Rooms were spacious with faux wood floors, nicely appointed baths and included a lot of amenities, including a safe (bonus: no charge for use). Staff was friendly and multilingual. Short walk to great shopping, La Alhambra, places to eat and drink. Consider the full service breakfast buffet in the morning...on a weekend morning, the breakfast options aren't plentiful outside the hotel, especially if you're an early riser or you have an early entrance time to La Alhambra. The cafe con leche was great. 8 euros for a cab to train station (if memory serves me).

  • Liked — Staff was helpful, modern facilities
  • Disliked — A little noisy at times, but that's life...

The hotel is in a great location. Great bars only a few minutes walk away, the Alhambra is really close, and the staff were very helpful.

If you are a light sleeper then maybe take earplugs if you might want a siesta in the afternoon. When we stayed it wasn't noisy at night - though footsteps can echo in the corridors. No traffic noise.

Breakfast was lovely - a buffet with fruit, hot food, cheese, ham and chocolate cake.

  • Liked — Location and cleanliness - it's a classy joint.

We have just arrived back from a week in Granada. We stayed at the Hesperia in Granada, which was set in a fantastic spot. Located in a small plaza, it is set in a nice peaceful surrounding, yet only a few minutes away from the many shops, resturants and bars. The Alhambra is only a 15 minute walk (some of it uphill, so beware), and the Arabic quarter a further 5 mins away.

The staff at the hotel were very friendly, and did all they could to help us out with out enquiries, such as the best bar/restuarant nnearby...all those essentials ;-)

The hotel itself is a modernised olde worlde building, which retains many of the original features, so it doesnt look like you bland generic faceless Hilton or Marriot. Although the rooms are a little small, they are immaculately cleaned...we thought we were the first to stay in the room!

Overall, a great hotel in an out of the hustle/bustle location, we would definetely stay there again.

Hesperia has a very central location in Granada, within walking distance of the main squares, the Alhambra and the Albaycin. I went there by car and that's a bit of an adventure. Fortunately I had studied the city map and Google Earth very carefully and I managed to find it in one go, driving through a maze of extremely narrow streets without signs to the hotel (except for one sign when you are nearly there). The hotel has a parking garage which will cost you EUR 14 per night.
The lobby and reception are in a beautiful patio, very stylish. The staff are friendly and helpful and they speak English. The room was modern and stylish, not too big but quite good for European standards. The bathroom was sheer luxury, with a huge bathtub (I really enjoyed the hot bath in the evening).
The hotel made a very clean and modern impression, quite new I think. The only disadvantage is that it's a bit noisy at times. It is surrounded by narrow streets and passageways and you can clearly hear the people in the street talking to eachother, not to mention when a motorcycle comes through.
I stayed only one night at the Hesperia, but really enjoyed it. After checking out in the morning I could leave my car in the parking garage until the afternoon, so that I could visit the Alhambra without having to worry about my car; very convenient and a good service from the hotel!
Highly recommended.

Stayed for 4 nights and despite arriving mid morning we were immediately allocated a room. As previous reviewers have said noise is a problem... there was no chance of a siesta in the afternoon due to the noisy maids. We were also disappointed that breakfast wasn't included as we believed it was. The comfort and location was second to none - the shuttle bus from the Airport (3 Euros!!) dropped you off at the Grand Via Colon which was a 5 minute walk to the hotel. The hotel was located behind the Town Hall with an excellent value tapas bar more or less next door. Best restaurants were in the vicinity of the Hotel Melia and Peurto Real forgot about the restaurants in the Bib Rambla Square behind the Cathedral, they cater for tourists and the food is poor. In the other direction the Plaza Nueva is only a few minutes away with good restaurants in the back streets, this is also the place to catch the minibus to the Alahambra or the little sightseeing minibus for the Albaysin. If you can avoid it don't drive in Granada as all the main thoroughfares into the city are undergoing development and the whole city is gridlocked with traffic. Overall a brilliant break... highly recommended.
