Well this review has been a long time coming from me..... I have been staying in Hostal AB every month now for the last year.
My partner lives in Granada and I have found Hostal AB an excellent base for my monthly trips.
The Hostal is a lovely family run establishment, the staff is extremely friendly and always on hand to assist with any problems... not that I have had any problems during any of my stays. Ok the rooms are basic but to be honest for the prices I find the rooms extremely comfortable & clean especially the beds! I have stayed now in many different rooms some with bathrooms and some without and I honestly don’t mind either.
The staff have always welcomed me and made me feel at home, honestly nothing is too much trouble for them all you have to do is ask and they will try there best to assist you.
There is no curfew at the Hostal which really does give it an advantage over other Hostals and you can keep your room key with you at all times which again I find useful.
There is Wi-fi available within the hotel, personally I can’t comment on this as I have never used, I normally just pop out to one of the many local internet cafes nearby.
The location of the hostal next to the main bus routes on Camina De Ronda is excellent and makes it nice and easy if travelling from the bus station to the Hostal, also for exploring the city you can hop on and off the many buses that pass by.
There are plenty of local bars, tapas bars and restaurants close by to keep you occupied and with the largest nightclub in Granada "Mae West" just a short stroll away at Plaza Neptuno.
If you are not up for a big night out then I am sure you will find fun and relax in 1 of the many local bars, The Granadian people are always willing to welcome you, even if your Spanish is not great... go in have a go and enjoy!
The Hostal is very close to the most beautiful park, Parque garcia Loca.... where the gardens and running water throughout make for a lovely daytime or night time stroll all set against the backdrop of the Sierra Nevada mountains truly stunning.
I personally feel the Hostal is not too far a walk from anywhere but if you do jump in a taxi there are plenty around and very cheap.
So if you are thinking about going to Granada... do it and if you want reasonable, comfortable accommodation with friendly staff in a great location book up at the Hostal AB and enjoy.
The city and people of Granada are truly wonderful one of the last proper Spanish cities left, easy to get around and plenty to keep you all occupied.
