We have just returned from 3 days in Granada, staying at the Room mate Migueletes which is a charming hotel. Completely refurbished in typical Andalucian style, the hotel offers small but beautifully clean and authentically furnished rooms. On arrival, we were upgraded to room 26 at the top of the hotel which had a view overlooking the Alhambra - absolutely fabulous. Some of the other rooms look over the courtyard which may be a little dark but the charm of the rooms may make up for this.
The hotel also has a salon with sofas and chairs to relax in plus free Internet access. The courtyard offers a lovely place to sit and relax and between 8 and 9 complimentary sherry and nibbles are provided in the Bodega. Breakfast is served between 7.30 and 12 which means you don't have to get up at the crack of dawn every day.
The location of the hotel is ideal. On a cool quiet alley, a few minutes walk from Plaza Nueva with its numerous bars and restaurants and a short (if uphill) walk to the Alhambra. It can be a bit hard to find if you don't know where you're going, but just head for the Santa Ana Church at the top of Plaza Nueva and to the left you'll see a yellow sign pointing to Casa Migueletes. Just follow the signs and you'll be there before you know it. We didn't have a car so we didn't have to worry about parking although I think the hotel has a car park somewhere that can be used. We took the bus from the airport which drops you off by the Cathedral and it's then about a 10 minute walk to the hotel.
What really impressed us though was the friendliness and helpfulness of the hotel staff. They couldn't do enough for us and the apple and weather forcast left in your room every day was a really nice touch.
We recommend that if you're visiting the Alhambra that you buy your ticket in advance. I think the hotel will do this for you when you book, but we actually booked via the Alhambra website. You can then simply pick up your ticket on the day of travel and avoid the queues.
We would definitely return to this hotel again.
