I also stayed at the Miqueletes In November with two girlfriends and thought it was grand. Especially appreciated the friendly and knowledgable staff. And what fun to eat breakfast in what was probably a storage area for the olde jail!!! Rooms and services were excellent.

I stayed here with two of my friends in November. Everything I had read was true. It was right in the middle of everything, yet our room was quiet and clean! The front desk managers were superb! They always had a helpful hint, a map, restaurant and tapas tips or just a smile waiting. They even searched for and booked us a great room in Ronda. They were the most helpful folks we talked to the entire trip. Question about how much to tip or what time something opened? They knew. What line to be in for the opening of the Alhambra. They knew. Our rooms were great. Mine sometimes had a little of an unpleasant smell from the sewer line, but I kept the bathroom door shut and it was fine. Comfortable beds. Elevator to help with luggage. A safe. Internet service in the living room. Breakfast in the wine cellar. I would definitely stay here again. Do not drive in this city! We rented a car after we left and were so glad we did not have it with us during our stay. Give them a try. We were glad we did.

  • Liked — old architecture right in the middle of everything
  • Disliked — the sometimes sewer smell

An ideal base from which to explore Granada

Tripadvisor ranked this hotel number one in Granada, and indeed we enjoyed our stay here. There was excellent service from a small but dedicated staff, and a location ideal for all the important sights of Granada. It was close to the Plaza Nueva, ideal to catch the bus to the Alhambra. Rooms 2 and 4 where we stayed were spacious and elegant rooms, with excellent en suite facilities. One down side, though, was the inward facing windows, denying us the opportunity to gaze at the Alhambra or in fact anything else. Another was the amplification of any noise made in the building, from creaking floor boards to peoples' voices. It was good that those staying during our visit were the quietest tourists we had ever come across! The breakfast was ok, but offered little selection for vegetarians. Luckily the restaurants were only a short walk away. Besides the Alhambra, we would strongly recommend catching the Alhambra bus to the top of Albayzin. From the newly built Mezquita Grande, one can get a breathtaking view of the Alhambra, the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the whole city. Feb/March was a great time to visit this spectacular and historic region, and the weather was a welcome surprise to what we had expected it to be. This hotel was the ideal base from which to explore Granada.

We stayed in this Granada location on our winter vacation (February). Service was excellent and always available. Breakfast buffet was first rate and wide ranging. Our room and bath were spacious and met our needs, while the overall price was reasonable. This location and its history/architecture add to the sense of being in old Granada. Near the Alhambra, plaza, and in the old quarter, everything was easy from this location.

Hotel Migueletes is a beautiful hotel, located on a quiet street just off Plaza Nuevo. We took the airport bus for €3.00 (Feb ‘07 prices) to Gran Via, which stops opposite the Cathedral, and walked 2 minutes to Plaza Nuevo. At the top end of the Plaza, you’ll see another church - turn left and follow the signs to the hotel - it’s a 1 minute walk from there.

Its location is on a quiet street so you won’t hear the late night revellers when you go to bed – though you should probably be out there enjoying the Andalusia night life anyway.

The lobby has stone floors and a retractable roof so you’re inside, but you feel like you’re outside. The hotel has a genuine Moroccan Riad feel to it, from the tiny winding streets leading up to the door, to the sympathetic choice of furniture and finishes. It continues into each of the rooms – I cheekily dipped into a couple as they were cleaning them!

They have one computer and offer free internet access 24 hours a day – it worked and we used it to plan excursions. They have a free tiny bodega where you can try their selection of wines (open between 20:00 and 21:00 daily). Continental buffet breakfast was included in our price and there’s a good choice of cold meats, eggs, vegetables, fruit, yogurts, breads, teas, coffees and a few other essentials. The staff were all very friendly and bi-lingual (English/Spanish).

The rooms have hardwood floors throughout and it was possible to hear people walking around in the room above ours. On one particular night, when I couldn’t sleep, I could hear their toilet being flushed. It wasn’t the reason I couldn’t sleep, but if you need absolute silence in order to get you beauty sleep, it could be an issue for you. On all other nights, I fell asleep without any problems. Our bed had 2 mattresses pushed together which I personally don’t like. If you want a room with a view, do not stay in room 10.

Our room was clean and airy with simple decoration. We had an air conditioner which doubled as a heater. I tested both and they worked perfectly well. The shower in our bathroom was powerful and the hot water was consistent.

I recommend the hotel and hope to stay there again sometime in the future.
