It is difficult to know what to add to the praise already heaped on this hotel.

It has an excellent location (ask for the Plaza Nuevo stop if coming on the airport bus, then it's 5 minutes walk and follow the helpful signs when you get to the right turn-off called Pinas from the square). Extremely convenient for Alhambra, the Moorish quarter, Cathedral and shopping/restaurant areas.

All the staff are very friendly and helpful - you feel it is their own hotel and they want to make a good impression. They even paste Tripadvisor reviews into their visitors book (including one rather unfairly negative review!).

Complimentary sherry 8-9pm, a cheap min-bar in our room, very smart bathroom, and a view of Alhambra from our own little courtyard (OK, it was a deluxe room). It was not cheap (deluxe room 199 euros + tax) but worth it.

Finally, some comments on the recommended restaurants (it was very useful to have a map plus some indications of menus and opening times). We went to 3:

Pilar del Toro - 7/10. Doesn't open till 8.30pm, then there's a small crowd waiting. Good meal, fairly good service.

Real Asador de Castilla - 4/10. Again 8.30pm opening, slightly snooty service. Nice fish but very basic vegetables and potatoes. The dearest of the 3.

Azafran - 9 or even 10/10. Open all afternoon & evening. Modern & stylish. Excellent service, excellent meal. View of Alhambra from some tables.

We spent a very enjoyable 5 days in Granada, a time enhanced by this wonderful hotel.

  • Liked — Very friendly service, brilliant building and great location
  • Disliked — Nothing!
  • Tips/Secrets: — Most restaurants in Granada don't open till 8.30pm but they don't have opening hours on the door! Use the buses to get around - only 1 euro for any journey.

We stayed in this hotel 5 nights in August and were really taken back with the location and traditional ambience of the hotel, as well as the service and friendliness of the staff!

The hotel is in a pedestrian area of the city, which makes it really quiet and relaxed. The house is a traditional 'Carmen', with a beautiful patio. The rooms are decorated in a traditional manner with big beds and beautiful furniture. The breakfast served here is worth a mention. We stayed in Spain for a total of four weeks, with Granada being the final destination - and the casa de los migueletes definitely beat all other hotels for the quality and selection of their breakfast (freshly pressed orange juice, bread cakes, cheeses, fruit, tortilla etc).

A special thank you to the staff at reception (especially Elena), who were extremely attentive and helpful. The reception staff cannot do enough for you, from truly excellent restaurant recommendations to booking all your visits/excursions for you if you so wish (just do not visit the flamenco show in the caves – it is a tourist trap). They even arranged to post a couple of jackets to our home address which were left in the room by mistake! I travel quite extensively with work world wide and stay in many 4 star and 5 star properties, but have seldom come across such attentive and friendly service!

I would definitely recommend this hotel and hope to return soon myself!

We recently spent two nights at this sophisticated Granada hotel. The hotel is beautifully decorated throughout and has an historic feel. The hotel is built around a lovely, central courtyard that is totally inviting. A full breakfast buffet is served daily in an equally charming public space. The location is great; you can walk to most major sights or stroll across the Plaza Nueva to get a shuttle bus to the Alhambra. The multilingual staff is terrific. They made advance reservations for us for the Alhambra (don't visit Granada without going to the Alhambra and don't try to go without reservations!), suggested excellent, local restaurants, and even stored food overnight for us in their refrigerator so we would have a lunch on the train the following day.

We were in staying Granada just one night, primarily to visit the Alhambra. We were a party of 7 and booked a mix of Standard and Superior Rooms - both types of room got the thumbs-up from everybody: exceptionally clean and beautifully-furnished in an "olde world" Spanish style (lots of dark wood and tiles).

We drove from Estepona to Granada using the directions on the hotel's web site. The directions given are good BUT only turn right for Palacio de Congresse when you see Burger King on your left! We turned off too soon and ended up negotiating the well-known maze of one-way traffic-choked streets that other reviewers have mentioned. It was hell itself.

The hotel is located away from the hustle and bustle of Plaza Nueva, down a little backstreet in the Albaycin - a wonderful oasis of calm (think of Paris' Marais district or Rome's Trastevere but quieter). The lovely courtyard is almost worth the price of admission alone! And - a feature I have never encountered before - the hotel has its own bodega where you can purchase a bottle of wine after you return from sampling the great bars in the Albaycin.

The staff were exceptionally genteel and friendly and could not do enough for us - lovely people.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Granada at any time of year - it really is as good as other reviewers claim.

As for Granada itself....

Outside the old historic centre, there doesn't seem to be much to the city. I think Granada would be a good place to visit for 2 nights (3 max); that would give you time to do the Alhambra and the other attractions (like the Cathedral). Outside of this area, to be honest, some of the city is downright ugly...lots of high rises, wasteland, etc. Such a contrast with the historic centre.

As for the Alhambra - everything that can be said, has been said. Suffice it to say that it is one of the most impressive sites I have ever had occasion to visit. At least as good as anything Rome or Paris has to offer. Go see this place!

This small boutique hotel was hidden in a quiet little alley near the main tourist area of Granada. It was refreshing to walk away from the hustle and bustle of the city into our own little private oasis. The courtyard was very relaxing with gurgling fountains and lush greens, and there was a lovely small bodega where each evening they presented complimentary sherry and tapas. The breakfast area was small and comfortable and the selection of food was fresh and ample. If there was a problem with this hotel, it was that the room was quite small and the view from the window was overlooking a crumbling wall with trash falling out of it. The staff was so helpful and friendly that it more than made up for this small inconvenience.
