I had great expectations coming here, and it ended-up being the disappointment of the trip, even though it was the hotel that cost me the most.

PROs:
- Good location
- Building (hotel) itself has some character
- Nice reception staff

CONs
- Bad value for money. I did book a Superior room at a not refundable rate (so way less than rack rate) and paid an extra 22 Euro for the Alhambra view (Room 25). The room itself was small and didn't have anything superior about it, except maybe the bathroom that was larger than usual. the bad was TINY and I’m not a big person.
- Ridiculous AC. Wasn't cooling anything, which is very uncomfortable when temperatures average 37-38 degrees. We complained to the reception and were told that unfortunately the AC at the hotel (or in this room?) wasn't great. At night the air was way cooler outside than in the room. We slept the first night very uncomfortably because of the heat, windows closed. The next night we preferred death by mosquitoes to the heat and didn't regret it (actually no mosquitoes at night, thank god).
- No real common areas to enjoy the beautiful hotel
- Average breakfast at best. No hot dishes.
- Some standard rooms located on the first floor don't seem private at all. I would still book a superior but not go for the room 25 (Alhambra view) especially in the summer where you can't enjoy the terrace anyways, since it's so hot.
- No Room Mate feel. Obviously this property got annexed to the Room Mate family but no real investment was made. They should know that setting the Room Mate standard should be more than just putting orange toiletries and a green Apple. Very disappointing. I expected so much more from this place.

The hotel is well located, between the new and older parts of town. The Alhambra isn't far away, about 20 mins walk, although it is a little steep, so not for the faint-hearted. Having said that, there are frequent buses to it and there are bus stops close to the hotel.
We stayed for two nights but had to move rooms after the first night due to the noise coming from the hotel reception and the street. Whenever you leave the hotel, you have to hand in your room key to reception and to get back into the hotel, you have to buzz the intercom for the reception staff to let you in. That's fine during the day, but when your room is close to the reception and the door, you end up having a sleepless night due to people coming in late in the night.
If you stay there, we recommend you don't stay in rooms 1, 2 or 3 as they are all in the same area close to the front.
The rooms are also very basic considering the cost.
You do get a safe (free of charge) in your room but it is very temperamental. We had our things locked in there a couple of times and we weren't able to unlock it. We had to ask the hotel staff to unlock it for us, never had to that before!
Breakfast was poor. The cold drinks were warm, the meat and cheese on offer were very limited and tasteless.
During our trip in Spain, we have stayed at cheaper hotels that offered much better value for money.
Would recommend it but only for the location.

The hotel is in a perfect spot not too far from some very good tapas bars, which the staff recommended, or too far from the old Arab areas up the hill. Right next to the walk up the river where you can see fantastic views of the Alhambra in the evening.

The room was comfortable, although I do worry that the A/C will not cope in the extreme heat of the summer. We were very hot at night.

The breakfast was very good, plenty choice, and well presented. There is always someone who has to take advantage- we saw one couple stocking up for lunch. This is not acceptable I feel.

The staff were very pleasant. The atmosphere is a little stilted and could do with a more relaxed and pro-active approach from the staff, especially with information and suggestions about Granada.

Now my only real gripe was with the little, and not so little, visitors we had every night. Cockroaches!. In the bedroom, in the batroom, in the bath and on the shower curtains. Now I know it is an old building and it is hot, however we have travelled a fair bit, including the tropics and Africa and have never had a problem with roaches. They are really disgusting and I kept imagining they were in the bed. I did not sleep too well after our first encounter.

I mentioned it to the lady at the front desk and she was extremely apologetic and intimated that they had been fumigated or sprayed but it obviously had not worked.

I feel it is something they really need to get on top of because it spoiled an otherwise perfect 4 days in Granada.

This charming hotel was located on a quiet pedestrian street. When we got to our room we threw open the windows to gasp at the marvelous view of the Alhambra. The location was perfect; within walking distance to the fascinating Albaicin district and Serromonte as well as the Alhambra itself. The staff was so lively and helpful in finding us just the flamenco entertainment we were hoping for. The only problem was that we did not stay longer in this perfect spot.

The hotel is well located, very close to the Plaza Nueva and easy to find. Clear directions about parking on website. Don’t try to go by car direct to the hotel. GPS is very helful driving in Granada....
The room was very clean, but small, just room for the bed and a cupboard. The hotel has a lot of character and has been very tastefully restored and the room was very quiet. The staff was very helpful and decent and helped us find restaurants and did reservations for us.
The hotel is also close to most everything you would want to see in Granada.
