The hotel is in a great location - hard to find - but very close to the Alhambra in a lovely cobbled and quiet street. It's quite "old fashioned" in style, based around a central courtyard. There is a small fountain and a couple of tables to sit around. The beds are comfortable, a nice selection of toiletries are in the bathrooms, the general ambiance is fine... and the breakfast is substantial and thrown in with the price.
BUT... I booked 2 "superior" rooms about 4 months in advance, specifically with the intention of seeing the Alhambra... and felt that I could probably have done better.
My parents had a good room (21) with a view of the palace. Their room was not large, but it was possible to walk around the bed and open windows without being overlooked. Our room (7) was very small and inconveniently sized, with inward facing windows. We could not open either bathroom or bedroom window without the entire hotel able to see in... and as we faced the central courtyard, it was both noisy and stuffy. We had to keep the curtains drawn at all times and the windows shut. My advice would be to ask for an EXTERNAL view room. The worst point was the unhelpful and surly staff - most requests were met with a shrug... and I was explicitly "asked" for a tip by one of the receptionists - which I felt was very rude, especially given I had only asked for the logon for the "free" internet!
My main recommendation would be to avoid driving to Granada if at all possible... If you do drive, then under no circumstances try and drive to the hotel's "recommended" parking - leave the car on the outskirts. With the hotel's directions, a sat nav, 3 maps, 3 phonecalls to the hotel AND a stop at the tourist information it STILL took us nearly 2 hours to find the car park the hotel told us to use. To add insult to injury, the cost was 20 euros and the hotel's advertised reduction was 2 euros. I'd really highly recommend using one of the many car parks on the outskirts of town and taking a taxi in.
