We stayed at the Migueletes from 7th to 9th March 2008. The location was excellent, in the Albacin area (just off Plaza Nueva and very close to the Alhambra) and we found we were in an area where you could walk easily to all the sights, also the staff were extremely friendly and helpful (nothing seemed too much trouble). The hotel itself was quite unique in the way it had been renovated, and this provided it with great character which enhanced our stay in Granada. Our room and its facilities were fabulous (we booked the Junior Suite which was beautiful - a weekend away minus the children) and when we return to Granada we will definitely book the Migueletes again. We also found the hotel recommendations for restaurants extremely useful (we had a fabulous meal at Cunini's). All in all, a fantastic and very romantic hotel to stay in. Will definitely return and would use Room Mate Hotels again if visiting any other city in Spain.

Hotel was a charming oasis in Granada, just steps from Plaza Nueva. Old Andalusian house restored with every detail. Staff was extraordinarily helpful - they pay for your taxi from parking lot, and are always willing to offer suggestions on sightseeing and dining. We even got an upgrade to a great room on the courtyard. Also, they cheerfully helped in contacting our next hotel to confirm arrival and other details. It's the willingness to go that extra mile that counts. Free internet access is plus, too. Although they give a discount on parking (E. 18 per day), it does add up, especially with bad dollar/euro exchange rate.
I would highly recommend this place, and would go back without hesitation.

  • Liked — Charming restored hotel, quiet, modern amenties
  • Disliked — A little difficult to find, in small alley near main square.

The building is beautiful and clean. Our room was nice but very small. Rooms oriented toward the inside patio, so all the noise from the guests talking and walking on the stairs and on the patio is very close to your room window. If you want to wake up early, this hotel is OK, but it was impossible to sleep after 8AM. They were also repairing the roof one morning from 8 to 12. Staff not very friendly. Altogether, I think that this hotel is overpriced.

After staying in Room Mate Mario in Madrid only a few weeks earlier and the promise of 24h internet access, so we could continue to run our business while on a few days break, we decided to book Room Mate Migueletes.

The weather was very warm for Granada in March with day time temps in the mid to high 20's, so when we entered our room (ROOM 9) we thought maybe just the weather, so we turned the a/c on....it only gave out heat. So we went out and about and when we came back late at night the hotel room temp was still in the 20's. Staff informed us the a/c only works in summer and the heating in winter, so you have no control over it. That night of NOT BEING ABLE TO SLEEP with the bathroom window open (with a ladder nicely located next to it!!) and the bedroom window open, we complained. The room is also located above the boiler room, which adds to the heat. So we moved to another smaller room.

To add our problems on arrival we had been informed internet access was not possible in the bedrooms due to the thickness of the walls, but was possible in the courtyard. So we were not happy at this, as we needed access to continue our business and had to keep moving around the courtyard and staircase near the reception to get an internet connection, plus returning to the room to re-charge the laptop battery as it's life time isn't very good.

So to add misery on the last evening of our 3 nights an American guest informed me they can give you a cable to connect in your room....To say I was mad is an understatement, the staff had walked passed continually for the previous few days and never said anything.

I filled in one of the guests forms to complain and on departure, nothing was said at all.

  • Liked — breakfast
  • Disliked — Staff failure to inform me about internet access, price considering you don't have wi-fi connection or other information telling you about internet access is possible. Room temperature in 1st bedroom, no control of a/c or heating what so ever.

The hotel was lovely and their driving directions into Granada worth their weight in gold! They reimbursed for cab to hotel from convenient parking garage, as one cannot drive into old city. Hotel rooms well appointed, breakfast generous , staff very helpful and location fabulous! We'd go back!
