Part of the charm of this parador is the fact that it's located inside the Alhambra and the Generalife gardens. How often do you get the chance to sleep in a 12th century building complex?
We had a ground floor room that faced a little pond, and although the temps averaged 100 degrees the flowers were in full bloom. The room was clean and cool, with understated decor that befits this place. (Speaking of the heat, buying bottles of water ahead of time for the Alhambra tour is a must - you're outside for at least 3 hours!)
there is an inner patio-like area with a little fountain, padded chairs and tables, serene and lovely. The night we were there a wedding took place in the tiny courtyard, for about 50 guests. It added to the unforgettable experience because the setting was so spectacular.
Dinner was great, in the outdoor seating area. The staff was terrific, accomodating my parents' special dietary needs and requests, and even though certain items we wanted were not listed on the menu the chef agreed to prepare them just for our satisfaction without any fuss. A special recommendation for the pastry lovers: try the Pionones, a sweet treat that is served only in Granada and is offered in the magnificent breakfast buffet.
Don't forget to use the enclosed parking area for the parador's guests - saves time and stress.
This place is worth every penny - and you'll never forget it.
