We only stayed one night here in order to tour the Alhambra. Its a great location if that's all you want to do. Driving up to the hotel was a bit confusing, and getting back down was even harder however the hotel itself was very beautiful. The restaurant was really good and it was lovely sitting outside over looking the Generalife Gardens. The service was good but the staff's English was limited. If you actually want to see the rest of Granada I would probably recommend staying elsewhere in town.

This was a birthday treat - one night at the Parador de Granada, followed by nights in Paradors in Jaen and Ubeda. It is a wonderful location right in the Alhambra complex. The hotel is contemporary in style, and compared to other Paradors it is a shame that the interior designers had not taken more inspiration from the Alhambra itself. The decor means you could be anywhere, until you look out the window. It is about 30 minutes walk down into the town (40 minutes back up!).

Being low season our package included a lovely buffet breakfast, loads of fruit, meats, cheese, breads, cereals. We are vegetarian, (not always a great option in Spain), and they did a delicious and reasonable 4 course fixed price menu at €24 per head (the non-vegetarian at €33 seemed good value as well).

The price of the rooms is horrendous though.

However, I went back recently (May 09) with a group of 7 friends just for a pot of tea and cake on a saturday afternoon about 5.30. It had started to rain, none of the other refreshment points in the Alhambra was open, so it was busy but not outrageously so.
The staff were slow, rude and helpful. What a shame.

You open the shutters in your room - and there you are, in the middle of this magical ancient palace of Alhambra. On top of that, you get a very classy parador, with elegant rooms and service. We even had view of the generalife gardens from the bathroom. The staff will arrange tickets for the Alhambra tour.
The best of all paradores we've seen - an unmatched experience!

This Parador was situated within a short walk of the entrance to the Alhambra and that would have been a good reason for staying there. However it is a great place on its own merits as well. It is a modern hotel but built within the area of the old. The history of the Alhambra is with you in the hotel as well as in the palace.

The rooms are modern and well fitted out and have wonderful views of the amazing vistas around the Parador.

Service was excellent.

The food was good (we tried breakfast, terrace lunch and evening meal during our stay) but you would not choose this place on that basis.
