I am so glad I didn't take too much notice of the other reviews when I booked this hotel. I thought it was lovely. It was the 2nd one of only a 4 day stay in Granada (as I couldn't get the suite I wanted for the full 4 days at my other Hotel (Zaguaan) ) and for what it is worth we slightly preferred this one.
It is a few short steps from the lovely historic street Carrera del Darro and only a few hundred metres from the church of Santa Anna and the Placa Nuevo. I like to pick rooms that I can actually view on a website and we chose room 9 or the Boabdil suite at this hotel. Ok it wasn't perfect. The bed was very small the bath was set on the opposite way to what you would expect so it was an awkward climb to get the plug in. Also there were a lot of stairs to the room and no lift so for this reason maybe less mobile people should avoid this hotel but in other ways it was fantastic. There was a lovely sitting area with two two seater setees. Fabulous views from this room, the bathroom and the bedroom of the Alhambra and the C del Darro. A great telly with loads of channel, great reception. A mini bar well stocked. Another little room with another settee!!! we used this one to store our suitcases. The bathroom was a little strange as mentioned but it was modern, the water was hot, the jacuzzi bath was gorgeous, there was a bidet, a hairdrier and more views!
We got a winter rate I think of 110 euros plus 7 % tax and were more than happy with this. Oh and as we didn't have to set off for our Ryanair flight until 7 p.m. we paid 50 euros extra to keep the room until this time and that made for a very relaxing day. The hotel owner was perfectly nice - maybe the accusations of aloofness come from the fact that not everyone in Granada speaks English with as much skill as other tourist destinations in Spain - but hey my Spanish is rubbish!
The central courtyard is very pretty although as quite a connoisseur of Renaissance art the frescoes are not all they are cracked up to be. Didn't have breakfast as it wasn't included and at 10 euros per person we knew we could get it half the price outside.
Anyway - look at the photos and decide for yourselves.
