“Wonderful views and very romantic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

We decided to pay a little extra for a room with a view of the Alhambra and that is one of the best investments in our trip to Spain! Please, if you decide to stay here, treat yourselves to a room with a view, the view is phenomenal.

The hotel is an old 16th century building with tons of charm. As we were checking in I noticed a fresco behind the receptionist and asked her if that was a replica and, to our surprise, she said it was original to the building! Keep in mind that there are no elevators, but, to us, everything else about this place outweighed the stairs we had to climb every day.

Breakfast was very good, bread, ham, cheese, fruit and great coffee. When we return to Granada, we will definitely stay here!!

We found hotel very interesting and romantic as:
- it has a yard inside,
- our room was with an attic flour,
- the building is really old with wrong geometry but kept in good condition,
- pictures and all the decor elements are made with love,
- the staff was very kind and friendly.

We took our daughter, son in law and granddaughter to Granada for a special treat on our granddaughter's eighth birthday. We were advised by Granada friends that the Palacio de Santa Ines was THE place for such an event. We weren't disappointed. The location, right across from the Arab Baths, was perfect for trying that delightful experience. The front desk helped us arrange tickets for a flamenco show in the Sacre Monte. The staff was friendly. The rooms were perfect, with a loft bed that our granddaughter loved. The only minor negative was that our daughter (who isn't used to Spanish night hours) was kept up by reveling at a nearby bar (we didn't hear a thing).

Room Tip: An inside room might avoid the noise from nearby nightspots. It is an easy walk from the recommen...

We stayed for one night with a view to seeing a show which started at 8.30 in another part of town. The price of the great location (in the heart of the pedestrianised historical centre), is that it's a total nightmare trying to find their suggested car park, not helped by the directions which in English are plain wrong.
The hotel itself is a very old period building which is, as someone has said, like stepping back in time. Very clean, lovely furnishings, plentiful hot water. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We found it very quiet but I don't think there were many staying and I got the impression that the small atrium outside our room would carry sound in times of high occupancy. Lots of choice of places to eat and drink but we didn't get the opportunity to sample these as we ended up arriving so late.
Directions in English re arriving by car: "Take junction 131 off the motorway (from direction Jaen), and follow the signs for Palacio de Congressos." This effectively takes you underneath the motorway, turning left off the roundabout. Do not take the road clearly marked Armilla as is stated in the hotel directions. We only found our way to one of the recommended car parks by asking lots of people for El Corte Ingles, (which all the Spanish know). Even when we finally got back to said roundabout the directions didn't make sense so we just kept asking. You have been warned.
We would definitely stay here again, especially now we know the way. A couple of small points. On the plus side we had our little dog with us and the hotel had provided a dog bed in the room which was a lovely touch. However, we too experienced difficulties with the automatic lights in the common areas not always working.

Room Tip: We stayed for one night with a view to seeing a show which started at 8.30 in another part of town...

PROS
1) Near Alhambra (some rooms have stunning views of it)
2) Walking distance to Plaza Nueva shops and restaurants
3) Tapas bar just a few steps away from the hotel itself
4) Beautiful rooms
5) Very helpful staff
6) Small safe in the room for valuables

I booked "rooms with a view" at this hotel at the recommendation of a friend who stayed here the month before my trip. It is a beautiful property in an old building with easy proximity to many Granada attractions. The two staff members we encountered were very pleasant and extremely helpful.

CONS
1) Noise can be an issue due to the back courtyard onto which the rooms open. Sound travels and echoes quite a bit in these areas from people walking/talking and slamming doors.
2) The lights in the hotel common areas farthest from the front desk/lobby are on timers and supposedly will come on when there is movement. That said, I walked the stairs to my room in the back part of the hotel instead of taking the elevator (since I was away from the gym while traveling), and the (open) stairwell lights did not come on at night at all. I tripped and fell trying to find my way up in the darkest part of the stairwell. Easy solution for other travelers: don't take the stairs at night (even in the day, the open stairwell at the back part of the hotel is quite dark).
3) The tub/shower, like several encountered in Spain, do not have a full door enclosing them. As such, I had to sit down to use the portable shower head; otherwise, had I used the shower traditionally by standing up, water would have gone everywhere.

Bottom line: Conveniently located, some rooms have amazing Alhambra views, great staff

Unique hotel with an excellent location in Granada. The staff was wonderful; they were very pleasant and helpful with letting me use their front desk phone and providing advice on parking. (We accidentally found a parking space and were able to keep it for free during our stay!)
