Obviously this hotel gets mixed reviews and mine is the same. You must accept the fact that this is a quirky spot - old palacio with an eccentric but charming renovation job. We had two rooms (for three people) and they were very nice with old furniture and enormous character. My only complaint besides the price tag (a bit too much) was that the staff was more interested in each other than in the customer.
We asked for a restaurant recommendation and got one but no map, no little diagram and we never found it. They just didn't seem to care very much. Maybe it was an off day, or not the usual staff. I would recommend staying here especially since it's really the exact neighborhood you want to be in.
The only energy the staff actually exhibited was attempting to get us on an expensive tour of the Alhambra. It felt very much like a kickback situation. As it turned out the tour was booked and so was the Alhambra - a note of caution: book ahead for tickets to the Alhambra or you run the risk of not getting in. Fortunately we had seen it before.
