My companion and I stayed at the Morisca for 2 nights in mid-October. I choose one of the 114E rooms that faced the courtyard in order to cut costs.

Pros:
The Moorish style is evident everywhere in the interior and it’s the real thing. The center of the hotel is a courtyard with the original small fountain, very relaxing.
This is a great area of Granada, close to all the sights, within view of the Alhambra, and near to lots of restaurants.
Anna, the day front desk person is great, very helpful. She made every effort to make our stay comfortable. She even plotted out our route to Seville which was excellent.
Our room was standard size, the fact that it only opened into the courtyard was not a problem. The furnishings were comfortable and classy.
There is parking right out front.
There is a free computer connection in the room and a small frig.
Walking distance (uphill) to the Alhambra.

Cons:
Granada is hard to drive in; the street leading to the hotel is narrow and hard to navigate.
Our room was a bit warm.

In conclusion if you want a real feel for Granada the Morisca is perfect. The interior is filled with history and charm. The price of 114E was very reasonable. If you can afford it, get a room with an outside view.

This hotel did not live up to its rave reviews. The staff was unfriendly and cold - don't think I saw them smile. The bed was two singles pushed together (with very stiff sheets) and even after we said we were on honeymoon they did not switch us to a double. Let's just say that two seperate beds kills the romance! I also though the rooms were too small and from our room, a view of the Alahambra came with a strained neck! So, all in all, I wouldn't stay here again but I can see that it is a charming inn...

What a charming hotel, loaded with ambiance, a delightful staff and a great location. The hotel is easy to find, has parking right in front, and is located at the base of the Alhambra. The interior is everyone's fantasy of Andalusia; inner courtyard with a fountain, big beamed tall ceilings, tiled walls and floors. The rooms spotless and with oodles of the same antique charm seen in the lobby. The staff was cheerful and helpful. What a find.

  • Liked — It's ambiance.
  • Disliked — I can't think of a thing.
  • Tips/Secrets: — Walk up to the Alhambra the back way. Ask at the desk.

We stayed at Casa Morisca in June as a 2 night extension to our holiday in Mojacar, primarily because it was near the Alhambra and had good reviews on Trip Advisor.
The hotel website has photos which give a fair picture of the accommodation. Our room was small, but had loads of character and a good view of the exquisite Alhambra. The reception was friendly and efficient, we got the room we had requested on line(room 14) and they had booked our ticket for the Alhambra again as requested.
There is no restaurant, but there are lots of tapas bars within a few minutes walk which were very good, much better and cheaper than those in Barcelona.
Take my advice and park on the outskirts of the city and get a cab to the hotel as it is not easy to find and some of the roads are very narrow. Parking cost 20 Eu for 2 days and the cab about 7 Eu each way, no hassle.
The Alhambra surpassed all expectations, absolutely stunning, very well organised to minimise queuing and the audio guide was excellent. We got a cab from the hotel (5 Eu) as it's all uphill, but if your on a budget the bus is cheaper (1 Eu)
We will certainly return to Granada, the Alhambra and Casa Morisca

Ideally situated in the Albaicin, a short (but steep) walk to the Alhambra with plenty of restaurants nearby. The road where hotel situated is a cul-de-sac, so no through vehicular traffic but can be a bit noisy at times from pedestrians - if you're sensitive, then ask for an inward facing room. Hotel itself has been restored to it's 16th century splendour and is very atmospheric of the time. Rooms are what you would expect from a 4* hotel with efficient and helpful counter staff. Breakfast was also up to standard served in the superb arched basement. Looking around Granada, we didn't see anywhere where we would alternatively stay - with the possible exception of the Parador.

  • Liked — location and historic building
  • Disliked — occasional external/internal noise
