We stayed here for our honeymoon and had the best experience we could have asked for. We stayed in room #8, a mirador on the second floor. General hotel ambience: quiet, romantic, gives you an instant feeling for granada. The place was built in the early 1500's and was recently renovated (2000). It has original Moorish architecture which was very cool. Room review: very large room with a window directly facing the Alhambra. Amazing at night and during the day. Modern bathroom with separate tub from shower. Hairdryer provided. Large armoire for clothes. Safe for valubles. Comfortable bed. Loud noises travel so you have to be quiet, even when the door is shut to your room. Location: Great, walking distance to the historical landmarks of Granada. A bit difficult to find. My Spanish speaking husband got us there in a sort of round a bout way; just ask to go to Plaza Nueva in the Albacyn (oldest part of Granada). The road is tiny and also private. You need to enter through a quasi private gate and tell someone you are staying at Casa Morisca. Once there, the hotel reserves a parking spot for you so you can park and leave. We would definitely return here when visiting Granada.

  • Liked — Room size/quality, hotel location, and friendly staff
  • Tips/Secrets: — Ask for a mirador, bring good walking shoes (streets are all cobblestone)

We were originally booked at the Parador and had to change our dates and luckily for us the Parador was full as it was over the Asumption Holiday (15 Aug). Having read the reviews on this site, I decided to give Casa Morisca a try and I am so pleased that we did. When I first contacted them they only had a Courtyard room available but I asked for a Miradore room if one became available. On arrival they told us that they had a cancellation and we were fortunate to have a beautiful room with a fabulous view of the Alhambra. The reception service, help and advice were fantastic, sorting out our Alhambra tour, cancelling the previous booking etc etc. We have travelled extensively around Spain and it certainly ranks with some of the best hotels we have stayed in. Getting there by car is difficult and we did eventually have to stop a taxi and follow it to the Hotel but that was a small price to pay for such a great hotel and a great location.

  • Liked — Beautiful building and situation
  • Disliked — Lots of stairs
  • Tips/Secrets: — Take your walking boots - cobbled, steep streets

This was our second stop on our honeymoon driving around Andalucia and I decided to splurge a bit on this as the Alhambra was one of the main highlights of our trip, and also due to the good reviews on this website. Well, it certainly lived up to my expectations in every way. It's fantastically romantic to even the most jaded cynic, next to the Alhambra and the old city, great reception service, lovely rooms and beautiful courtyard. I have to say that this hotel was the best of our whole trip (also better than the Paradores in Jaen, though that was also good). My only caveat would be if you're driving - I thought it was very difficult to get to by car and this caused a great deal of un-honeymoonlike stress and bad language. Though to be fair they provide detailed directions, just one wrong way can lead you to trouble as the roads are often one-way and very narrow!
It's expensive but if it's a special occasion or trip (or honeymoon!) I would unreservedly recommend it.

  • Liked — The cool Moorish ambience of the courtyard
  • Disliked — navigating there by car through Granada
  • Tips/Secrets: — Plan your entry to Granada and to the hotel VERY well before driving there

We picked this hotel due to other posts and we couldn't have been more pleased. We were in Rm. 10 that previous posters said was noisy, but we didn't notice any more noise than what would be expected. The room was very nicely appointed and had a fantastic view of the Alhambra. The hotel public spaces are very nicely appointed and realy add to the experience. After touring the city, we found that the hotel was in the best location to tour all the popular sites. Some of the best restaurants are within a few minutes walking distance and it was a close walk to the Alhambra (though the walk back is much easier). We felt as safe walking back to the hotel late at night as we do in our own city. Several of the nearby restaurants have late night dining outdoors overlooking the Alhambra. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast buffet was the best and largest selection that we had in Spain, worth the extra money. We would definitely return to this hotel and have recommended this hotel to others.

We stayed in the Mirador room on the 3rd floor. It has an awesome view of the Alhambra, even from the bathroom. The hotel is very clean and in a great location. The only down side is that if you are driving, it is hard to find. You have to drive into a restricted area and we had a tough time finding it. Once you are there it is beautiful and a great place to stay!
