Once again (see my recent review of the Amadeus, Seville), finding hotels in Andalusia, where the streets seem designed for horses (and thin ones at that, walking in single file) is an art in itself.
Ignore the instructions given. Follow the signs to the Alhambra, drive past the car park, when you reach a large hotel and are faced with a dramatic descent - get a taxi to guide you there. It will cost you €5 and save you a heart attack.
Once in the hotel, the Moorish theme is evident with a hexagonal water feature in the large open atrium.
The view from our room (the suite, we splashed out) of the Alhambra was wonderful - it needed to be, I had flu :-( and so didn't get any closer to it (my partner tells me she walked up the hill to the Alhambra in ten minutes, but she's fit, so allow for longer).
Anyway, the room was lovely, with patterned vaulted ceilings, a minibar with reasonable prices (shame on you, hotels that charge €5 for a coke) and the staff were very helpful, allowing us to have a pizza delivered when my illness cancelled our plans for a romantic meal out.
Moreover, we got a complimentary bottle of bubbly as it was our second anniversary (hence the room).
I'd love to stay at this hotel again and get to see the Alhambra - but even in an unwell state, it was a great stay.
