We stayed three nights at the Casa Morisca in September 2008. The hotel is located in the Alabacin district of the city, on a hill facing the Alhambra. On entering the hotel, you are greeted with a fantastic Moorish style courtyard with fountains etc. We arrived late in the evening, and the hotel receptionist was very helpful and provided maps and restaurant directions. Parking outside the hotel is limited, but there are other nearby streets where you can park for free.

We stayed two nights in the Mirador room, which is an attic room with fantastic views of the Alhambra but is rather small and is quite exposed to noise from outside. Additionally, we stayed one night in the suite, which has a jacuzzi bath, separate sitting area, and ornate wood ceilings. Both are priced at the same rate, but the suite is better value in my opinion. Breakfast is an additional €9, and was the usual Andalucian toast, pastries, ham etc.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Casa Morisca, but I feel the top rooms are overpriced and we found better value at other hotels we stayed at in Seville and Cordoba.

Good hotel in a great location, but very difficult to find when driving as the no entry signs don't apply for access to the hotels. We drove around Granada for a couple of hours before we finally managed to work out that the no entry signs had tiny text under them in that allowed access to the hotel.

The rooms are pretty, but on the small side - and we didn't have the smallest room. But some of the rooms have views of the Alhambra and the hotel is close to good resturants and fantastic views.

We stayed here whilst touring the Costa del Sol and it's a lovely. charming little hotel tucked away up a side street.

The Moorish inspired decor and rooms are lovely as is the little sunken pool in the courtyard area. Some roomd look out on the Alhambra - we were lucky ours did too. Most rooms are designed individually. At night they had a roof that wold retract so you could see the night sky and stars as you were sitting in the courtyard. It was like being in Marakech.

Staff were friendly and willing to organise trips for you / hotel pickups and they spoke a variety of languages. The only problem we had was parking - we parked outside the hotel but they told us to move or face being towed away. My husband moved the car and returned about an hour later having had to serach in an already overcrowded city for parking during peak tourist season, Needless to say we had a 20 minute walk the next day uphil and down dale to find the car where he'd left it overlooking most of the city.

At night we were kept awake because there was some kind of flamenco bar / museum activity down the street but if I'm honest, it was only that we were worn out from travelling that we had an early night the first night - usually we'd have been out there along with everyone else taking part - it really was an amazing atmosphere.

Would stay again - we didn't view the Alhambra due to the sheer heat and humidity but would gladly return out f season when it's cooler. When we do, we'll book this hotel again. It was lovely.

  • Liked — Decor and location
  • Disliked — Lack of parking - nobody had been towed away the following morning as had been threatened!!

A really small hotel but stepping into the lobby was like stepping back into a 15th Century Villa. Granada was awesome and so was Casa Morisca.

We stayed here for two nights and got an outward facing double. The room was clean however the beds were two twin beds pushed together without the strap in the middle. All of our other hotels in Spain had the strap in the middle to make it seem like a king size bed. No free ammenities like free breakfast, free minibar or free computer access w/ internet, again unlike our other hotels in Spain. I believe they had free Wi-Fi but we didn't bring a laptop.

The place did have lots of characters like a riad in Morocco though less lavish, and it was a few yards away from Paseo de los Tristes with great views of the Alhambra. However, when the temperature rises the walk from Casa Morisca to Plaza Nueva is a little annoying. A narrow one-way street at times just enough space for one car and one person (literally). Though you can take the bus from Plaza Nueva to a stop just outside Casa Morisca, the buses sometimes wait up to 10 min before leaving Plaza Nueva. A few touristy restaurants nearby, but most places are around Plaza Nueva.

Basically you get a room in a very nicely restored Albaicin mansion, but not much else. For what they charge, seems a bit overpriced compared to the four other places we stayed at throughout Spain.
