The friendly efficient staff made booking our stay and reserving our Alhambra tour tickets very easy. We arrived by car which was a great adventure navigating the narrow, busy one way streets. As we did in most cities in Spain, we got lost once or twice but the friendly people of Granada helped us find our way. The hotel is very nice and clean. The Moorish interior was great. Read the book in the lobby describing the hotel's renovation. We stayed in room 10 with a view of the Alhambra and the city wall. The room was very nice, quiet and relaxing. The staff had great advice for eating, shopping and sights to see. We really liked being in the old part of town. The hotel is some distance from the Plaza Nueva where there is a lot to do. Most days the walk back to the hotel was fun and interesting but if you are tired, go ahead and take the bus or a cab. The tour of the Alhambra was very interesting, a great referral by the hotel. The bus service around Granada is very good with busses running very frequently. We dined at the La Piccola Italia and it was great. In addition to giving us directions to the restaurant, the staff advised us on the best place to buy ice cream as well as the best cafe for hot chocolate y churros! Very nice!

This was our first stop as part of a 10 day trip around the Almeria area of Spain. We arrived by train and took a taxi to the hotel which allowed us to take in the city sights as we made our way there. The taxi takes you up a narrow stretch of road before reaching the hotel. From the taxi you get to see the Alhambra Palace on the top of the hill and the river before arriving at a side street where the hotel is situated.

First impressions were good. The exterior of the hotel with its solid wooden gate like door with a second door in the middle of it certainly gives you a historical perspective of what is to come. Once through the door you are greeted with a rihad like interior with its small pool of water in the centre and plants around the edges. This really gives a sense of how old the building is.

The receptionist that we were greeted by was very friendly and her english was very good. We stayed in two different rooms whilst we were there including no.15 with its views of the Alhambra. Both rooms were very comfortable, clean with all the amenities you need, including free wi-fi. No.15 has bath robes but this room does cost a little extra.

The location of the hotel is also good for getting about town. The Alhambra is a short but steep walk in one direction whilst all other amenties (bars, restaurants etc) are a short walk in the other. Breakfast was optional here and to be honest it isn't anything special. Better to get out in the town and find a nice little cafe for something to eat.

Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel. Nothing seemed to be any trouble to the reception staff. The girl who dealt with us knew of good restaurants, short cuts to places and was helpful with anything regarding the rooms.

Have few complaints about this hotel, the staff were pleasant and all the booking processes went well. Finding it by car was a bit of a nightmare but they did give us good directions, there were just too many people on the streets!

The decor inside is moorish, very much like the riads of Morocco but it did feel a bit staid inside and had notices asking you to be quiet. You did feel like you had to whisper.

As another reviewer has noted the rooms do smell of drains but again, very like Morrocco, that didn't bother me too much.

The location was good during the day but at night it was pretty quiet around the area and lots of the bars and restaurants shut early so you have to go further afield.

Don't really do breakfast, so can't comment on that.

Overall, this is a pleasant hotel and a good base in the old town.

We spent two nights with our family at the Hotel Casa Morisca at the end of December. We had two rooms - the special double with the antique ceiling and an exterior double over looking the street. We love small hotels with local character and this hotel exceeded all expectations. The place was charming, authentic and immaculate. Be sure to look at their scrap book showing the excavation and restoration project. The staff were incredibly helpful, from booking the alhambra tix, to recommending places for dinner, to getting us directions to our next destination. Very professional and friendly, especially Anna, whose skill at moving and parking cars on the narrow steep street was a show in and of itself. There is a back way to the Alhambra from the hotel (across the river, up some steps and up the hill) which the staff will show you. Walking distance to great restaurants. There is also a small patio in the back where you can have a snack and relax.

Just returned from our first visit to Granada; we had certainly chosen the right hotel. The booking was straightforward via email, and they made sure we'd booked our Alhambra tickets - which we'd also done on line.
The building is wonderful, around a central courtyard, and nicely furnished in keeping with the period.
They also provided excellent directions for driving into central Granada, - the hotel has parking which seems to be rare here, and made our arrival very easy.
Our outside room with balcony provided lovely views of the Alhambra which was close by, and the archaeological museum was just along the street.
Breakfast was in a delightful vaulted room downstairs, and included freshly squeezed orange juice, fruit, cereal, cheese and ham etc etc - lovely pastries too!
Highly recommend this hotel, - but suspect you need to book early as they only have about twelve / fourteen rooms.
