Our stay at the AC Palacio Santa Paula was very nice and is highly recommended. We stayed for 5 nights and throughout this time, enjoyed the service presented by the staff and the comfortable room we stayed in.

On arrival to the hotel we were met by friendly staff, and our room was upgraded upon check-in. The room was overlooking the quaint courtyard and had view of the church tower. The room was small in comparison to other 5-star hotel rooms but was chic, very clean and well presented.

The mini-bar in the room is free, which brought no end of joy to my wife as it would constantly bring a smile to her face after returning from the heat of Granada and drinking a cold bottle of Fanta lemon. The TV channels in the room are a bit of a disappointment, the only English talking channel available is CNN.

The restaurant hotel located in basement overlooking the courtyard is very posh. The service is in the restaurant was fantastic, constantly bringing you bread and small appetizers while you wait for your starters and main meal, but we think this could be to mask the amount of food they provide with their main meals.

No kettle or iron is provided at the hotel requiring you to order tea from the restaurant and giving clothes to the ironing service which can turn out to be expensive.

The location of the hotel is superb, within in close walking distances of Plaza Neuva and Plaza Rambala where lots of restaurants are situated.

There is a bus stop located outside the hotel and a short walk outside the Cathedral providing access to most tourist places.

Overall we had a lovely stay in the hotel which made the holiday to Granada that little bit special.

Beautiful hotel in the old city center of Granada. Room was spacious and had a large balcony (one of the few). Loved it.

We spent two nights here and have totally mixed feelings about the experience. We left very happy, feeling that it is a beautiful hotel with fantastic service. And the breakfast is really good (and you can order delightful eggs and smoothies at no extra charge). Staying in this former convent is really unique.

Our first night was on the top floor in a very nice room overlooking the street. It was, by far, the worst night sleep of the whole trip. Not only was the street noise (motorcycles and cabs all night long) incredibly loud, but the air conditioning wasn't working properly. It was a nice room with lots of light, but we couldn't sleep at all.

The next morning, we asked to be moved to a quieter room. The staff is fantastic! They did everything possible to make us comfortable and moved us to a beautiful (but dark) room in the former convent part of the hotel. This is where you should request to stay. It is lovely and quiet and feels very special. But expect that it will be dark when you are in your room (upside--it is quiet!).

As with all hotels that we stayed at in Spain (all 4 and 5-star hotels), the beds (in both rooms) were a bit too firm and the showers have no doors (so water goes everywhere). Other than that, the rooms are great. The bathrooms are clean, but small. Nothing fancy.

The staff is great here. They have good restaurant recommendations and did everything they could to take care of our needs. Of all the hotels we stayed in, the customer service here was the best. I'd request something down in the lobby and it was delivered to our room even before we could walk there! We were extra happy to give tips here!

The location is good, but not as close to things as other reviews make it seem. You can still walk to the catherdral and the Plaza Nueva areas, but it seems a bit off from the center of things. That said, it is still in a more central location than most hotels in Granada.

One gripe is that the internet is a little pricey. They have a few computers in the lobby, but you have to pay more than what seems standard to use them. But since you shouldn't be on the internet anyhow, I guess it is ok.

We spend two nights in Room 225 which is located on the top floor facing one of the two courtyards of the original buildings. While I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to spend a night or two in Granada I would rate it a four star plus hotel with five star charm, and a truly great dinning room, rather than a five star hotel like the Alfonso XIII at our prior stop in Seville. Our room had style but was a modest size for a five star hotel, however I have to note that the size of the room was made up in large part by the wonderful common areas in the hotel where one could sit and read when the weather was to hot to do much roaming around town. The bathroom had a tub-shower combo and twin sinks and while smaller than others we had during our trip was very well planned.

While I thought our room had a great deal of style it was hard to find a spot with enough light that you could sit and read in the evening. Our room did not have a safe nor did it have enough space to store our suitcases out of sight. To make up for these small failings the hotel boasts a truely wonderful dinning room where I had the best breakfast I had during our three week stay and a lunch that was among the two or three best meals I had in Spain. The staff was helpful in making reservations for a car and while not everyone spoke English their was generally someone on hand who did.

I used the gym and found the equipment first rate though like the rooms the gym was small. I did not use the dry or wet saunas but they were available . The only downside to the gym was temperture was the same as that in the other common areas which means you quickly work up a sweat.

I selected this hotel over the only other five star rated place I saw in town on the basis of positive reviews and location. After having been to Granada and checked out the two hotels, at least their common areas and location, I would recommend the the Santa Paula to anyone looking for a first rate hotel in Granada and would urge anyone looking for a wonderful meal to consider the dinning room as we had a truly wonderful meal in a nice setting with first class service.

This was the best hotel experience of our entire trip to Spain. We liked this hotel better the the Hotel Alfonso in Seville. The hotel has all the state of the art amenities and comforts, with wonderful blend of old and new. The room we had was amazing. I forgot the room number, I think it was #226, part of the old convento? It has a terrace that was orignally the bell tower, with a view of roof tops and the interior courtyard, incredible! The breakfast was worth every penny. Do not miss the Dannon yogurt, nothing like what we get in the US under the same name. Wow, it was like eating ice cream for breakfast! For my husbands birthday they brought him a bottle of champagne and a tin of chocolates. We can not say enough about this hotel, truley a gem. Wonderful staff, they were always there to assist. I have no idea why they do not have more reviews? You get a lot for your money here. I wished I could find a hotel like this everywhere we traveled. Not the least of which, a great location., a couple blocks from the Cathedral, shopping and cafes, and 5 steps from the bus stop with frequent service to the Alhambra and major attractions in Granada. This hotel should be rated #1!!
