To really appreciate the true essence of Granada, you must stay in the Albacin. To enhance the experience even more, you couldn't ask for a better host than Christian!

Yes, its a little convoluted to get there; park your car in the hospital car park across town for a few days (buy the weekly ticket in advance for 25E), catch a taxi to the main square and follow the small alleyways towing your suitcases up the cobblestones. We were determined to find our way there ourselves and got to within 50 metres before we called for assistance.

We had a gorgeous room on the top floor with a view of the wonderful Alhambra which is also lit up at night. Probably a few too many steps at the end of the day's travelling but well worth it with a comfortable room and a glorious view.

We were absolutely exhausted so Christian actually walked us through the maze of small streets to a lovely restauarant so we wouldn't get lost.

Christian serves a Germanic continental breakfast and a bottomless jug of coffee, just what you need if like us, you spend the whole day at the Alhambra (and all night in the tapas bars)!!!

There's also a free internet PC in reception to check on those e-mails from home.

Make sure you book your Alhambra tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.

You certainly won't be disappointed at Casa De Aljarife.

Trev and I stayed at the Aljarife last week. Breakfast was both social and delicious. The bedroom was cute with its multi rooms and obvious history, fabulously in keeping with the historic and atmospheric Albacin. We were absolutely wowed though by the marvelous Christian who ensured that we started every day with laughter and ready for fun. Looking forward to returning.

Two members of my family had the misfortune of being ill while in Granada during late December 2006. Luckily, we were booked to stay in a large, lovely suite of rooms at the Casa del Aljarife for 2 days.

As described in the e'mail confirmation that I had received from owner Christian Most, it was very tricky to find our way. Once I called him, he came to meet us and decoded the route.

Our large suite of rooms was huge with a lovely sitting-living room and fireplace area (we didn´t use a fire), the perfect place to quietly get better.

Christian helped us down with our luggage to the cab and also let us know of the bus schedule on the day we were leaving.

Excellent location in characterful old town with short walk to bus stop for the Alhambra. Very pleasant room decorated in traditional style and with great character. Spotless bathroom and WC. Very generous and varied breakfast shared around table with other guests - not at all 'formal' as described by another reviewer but very civilised. The proprietor was extremely helpful and, although never intrusive, was a witty and engaging conversationalist. This hotel had everything we look for in a place to stay. There are a few negative reports on this site which, in our view, tell you more about the report writers than the hotel.

We've just returned from 4 nights in Casa del Aljarife and it was a lovely experience. It's in the heart of the Albaicin, so it's a bit of a climb from the centre, but that means that you're in the heart of old Granada. We were able to walk everywhere over the space of our 4 days, including up to the Alhambra and to the two monasteries.

We stayed in Room 3, with a view of the Alhambra, and the room was spotlessly clean, unbelievably quiet and very comfortable.

Christian Most is a great host and was very helpful and welcoming. The continental breakfast is also great value at €5 and a good stress-free start to the day.
