To really appreciate the true essence of Granada, you must stay in the Albacin. To enhance the experience even more, you couldn't ask for a better host than Christian!
Yes, its a little convoluted to get there; park your car in the hospital car park across town for a few days (buy the weekly ticket in advance for 25E), catch a taxi to the main square and follow the small alleyways towing your suitcases up the cobblestones. We were determined to find our way there ourselves and got to within 50 metres before we called for assistance.
We had a gorgeous room on the top floor with a view of the wonderful Alhambra which is also lit up at night. Probably a few too many steps at the end of the day's travelling but well worth it with a comfortable room and a glorious view.
We were absolutely exhausted so Christian actually walked us through the maze of small streets to a lovely restauarant so we wouldn't get lost.
Christian serves a Germanic continental breakfast and a bottomless jug of coffee, just what you need if like us, you spend the whole day at the Alhambra (and all night in the tapas bars)!!!
There's also a free internet PC in reception to check on those e-mails from home.
Make sure you book your Alhambra tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.
You certainly won't be disappointed at Casa De Aljarife.
