My husband and I stayed at the Nieves in June 2006 for 4 nights, booked hotel via Expedia - good price, but note the contract doesn't include breakfast. The hotel is easy to find as its close to the Cathedral and Bib-Rambla square, just off the main shopping area. We found it quiet at night (we had 3rd floor) as there are no bars within the immediate vicinity. Helpful receptionists. Good-sized room, very clean with quiet air-con (only available if you're in the room), efficient shower and soft white towels. On the downside, not much character (the patios on their website are just small gaps like lift shafts, about half-way up inside the hotel!). Didn't have lunch there, but you could, in the very small dining room. Breakfast is in the public bar next door - basic breakfast for which we had to pay, but did have fresh orange juice (but there's a lovely patisserie just opposite). All in all, it was OK as a base but nothing special and, if we went again, we'd stay nearer the Albaicin district. But it wasn't far to walk to the main attractions and its location is great if you want the shops (so many shoes!). Loved Granada and the tapas bars.Airport bus was quick and cheap.

We stayed in Las Nieves for one night in February 2006. It's very centrally located, just 5 minutes from the cathedral. The rooms are very clean and well-heated - very important, as it was quite cold outside. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and we had no problems paying with an English credit card.
If arriving by car, make sure you park in the car park underneath the fountains in the Plaza Real, as then you can get a discount if you pay for it at the hotel (we parked at the wrong one!). Don't try and drive to the hotel - we drove round in circles and got hopelessly lost!

I stayed at Hotel Las Nieves for 3 nights. Arriving very late on a rainy Saturday night, in a hire car, made finding the hotel and public parking a bit of a challenge, but by some miracle we eventually came upon the underground public carpark under Plaza Real, which is open 24hrs/day and only a short walk from the hotel.

Even though it was 1am by this time, we were warmly welcomed and checked in with no problem. Our room turned out to be a family room with a double and two single beds, so there was plenty of space for the two of us.

The room looked onto a narrow side street, and the tall balcony windows had shutters that made it very easy to over-sleep in the morning.

Everything was spotlessly clean.. Shower was great, but hairdryer wasn't so good. I found the bed very comfortable, although I needed to use spare blanket that I found in the wardrobe. TV was small, with no international channels.

You could hear the voices of any noisy residents echoing down the tiled corridors, but once they were in their rooms it was quiet enough.

Location was as good as described in the other reviews, with good choice of restaurants/bars/shops in all directions, although I didn't get round to trying the hotel's own cafe-bar for some reason.

Stayed at this hotel in Nov. 2005.

1. Room - good size, beds OK, very clean. Very nice bathroom - excellent shower, lots of towels, very clean.

2. Location - very centrally located. A 5-min walk to the Cathedral, and right in the middle of the shopping district. A note for shoe lovers - excellent and inexpensive shoe shopping on every corner.

3. Noise levels - because of the central location, there was lots of noise coming from the street, until about 2:00 in the morning. Saturday night was much quieter though, surprisingly.

4. Service - excellent and friendly staff at the front desk. One in particular - Pilar - speaks excellent English. She provided us with some very useful suggestions re: dining choices and sightseeing, and called a cab for us.

5. Rate - we paid about 47 euros a night (tax included, no breakfast) through Expedia - EXCELLENT value.

6. Breakfast - try Ooh La La cafe at the nearby Plaza Bib Rambla (a 2 min walk). Excellent toast with crushed tomatoes and olive oil, or with pate - for just 1 euro.

The hotel was very good value for money. The room was small but very clean and couldn't have been more centrally located. The bathroom was excellent, with a new massaging-from-all-directions shower. My partner said that the walls were quite thin, though - but I did not notice it.
