We stayed in this hotel for 3 days in July 2006, and it was absolutely lovely. It is right next to the Alhambra - so much so that if you visit the outdoor restaurant on the top floor, in the evening, you can see it lit up in all its glory.
Our room was immaculate, and a decent size. The only criticism would be that the rooms don't have balconies to enjoy the gorgeous views.
The hotel has a really nice pool, with free sun loungers, and during our stay they had poolside massages and reflexology treatments available.
If you walk down to the entrance of the Alhambra there is a little bus that runs every 5 minutes or so, right into the centre of Granada. It starts around 7am and continues until about 11.30pm, and is incredibly cheap ( less than a euro).
There are also other restaurants in the immediate vicinity should you not want to eat at the hotel.
The breakfast in the hotel was impressive though, and they do a very reasonable buffet lunch including andalucian specialities.
I can't recommend this place more - very good value for money, great location, and a good way to experience Granada & the Alhambra.

We found this hotel through previous recommendations. The hotel is lovely, and is quite convenient for restaurants and the main sight seeing districts.

It has recently been refurbished and this shows. The hotel is tucked away off a main street and may have been difficult to find if we were not travelling by taxi.

The room we had was large, the food in the hotel was excellent. There are a number of shops nearby where you are able to buy soft drinks and water if you do not wish to purchase through the minibar.

Stayed at the Alixares for 2 nights as part of a tour of Spain. If you plan to visit the Alhambra, the hotel could not be better located (directly across the road from the entrance). The rooms were clean but a little on the small side. The food was excellent and the pool was nice to cool off in. You can catch a shuttle bus just down the road that takes you directly into the centre of Granada (a euro each way). I would recommend this hotel to other travellers especially if planning to visit Alhambra. Just one down side, the car parking is 14 euros per night and we were just put on the public car park for the Alhambra.

Stayed here for 3 nights in a triple room with mother and sister. The room was excellent- plenty of space for 3 proper single beds. Hotel staff were friendly and rooms were spotlessly clean. Perfect location for alhambra which was within 3 minutes walk. The walk into town was beautiful along shady lanes and the bus service back up the hill was a welcome relief after a days sightseeing. Had no trouble getting taxi from airport after late Ryanair flight even though we were delayed by two hours. Remember to book alhambra tickets on line before you depart. We booked 3 weeks before and could only get an afternoon slot for the Nasrid Palaces. Perfect weekend, would definitely book again.

Everything that previous reviewers have said is true. Ideal location, clean rooms, good buffet breakfast. There is a luggage room where you can leave bags if you have a late flight. Don't even think of getting a taxi if you arrive on the late Ryanair flight, they are non existant. You have to get the bus with the other 150 passengers, which is a bit of a bunfight to say the least!! Take the bus to the cathedral and then transfer to the no. 31 or 32 to the hotel.

Only concern, we were in a room on the 3rd floor that was on the same level as the swimming pool. Outside the window was a wrought iron trellis which was welded to the wall and would have made it impossible to get out of the window in the event of a fire. It did make me a little uneasy. Although fire exits were clearly marked as were extinguishers in the corridors.

Other than that a brilliant trip, Granada is beautiful and the hotel ideal. Have fun
