Everything that previous reviewers have said is true. Ideal location, clean rooms, good buffet breakfast. There is a luggage room where you can leave bags if you have a late flight. Don't even think of getting a taxi if you arrive on the late Ryanair flight, they are non existant. You have to get the bus with the other 150 passengers, which is a bit of a bunfight to say the least!! Take the bus to the cathedral and then transfer to the no. 31 or 32 to the hotel.

Only concern, we were in a room on the 3rd floor that was on the same level as the swimming pool. Outside the window was a wrought iron trellis which was welded to the wall and would have made it impossible to get out of the window in the event of a fire. It did make me a little uneasy. Although fire exits were clearly marked as were extinguishers in the corridors.

Other than that a brilliant trip, Granada is beautiful and the hotel ideal. Have fun

Stayed at the Alixares for 1 night March 10th. Obviously the main reason for the stay was to visit the the Alhambra. In that respect this Hotel is perfect only a two minute walk to main gate. Bit more difficult to visit main town of Granada, quite a walk and its uphill on the return. However the open top tour bus stops just across from Hotel which you can obtain tickets for from reception, also local bus stops right outside and is quite cheap to use.
As regards the Hotel it was perfectly adequate for our purpose. The reception were friendly, check in very smooth. The hotel room was clean and tidy and good bathroom facilities. The evening meal in Hotel is buffet style and was not very inspiring the buffet breakfast was a lot better.
Parking for Hotel is actually on Alhambra car park opposite which you have to pay for but get a discounted rate if staying at Hotel, I think it cost 12euros. All in all a nice place to stay for a short visit.

We have just returned from a three day trip to see Granada and the Alhambra Palace. The Alixares is an ideal hotel for a visit to the Alhambra because they share the same car park. The hotel was excellent, no complaints and would stay again without question. Some advice about the location though.....If you decide to get the bus from the airport ( Santa Fey), and after studying your maps decide to walk the "short" distance from the town bus stop ..Plaza Nueva..then think again. It is UPHILL ALL THE WAY. If you are a mountaineer then you will be ok. Either get the bus up from the Plaza Nueva..1 euro (March 2006)or a taxi.
Granada is a fine city, the gypsy caves in the side of the mountain are a bit of a hike but it is downhill coming back down. Some advice about your ticket into the Alhambra.....Look at the time on your ticket for entrance into the Palaces. They will not let you in if you are late. When you get into the main entrance go to the Palaces so you know where thay are then hang around till your time. Dont forget...they will not let you in if you are late. Hope this helps in your stay.

Just returned from a five night stay at this hotel after choosing the hotel from reviews on TripAdvisor and Ryanair. The hotel is excellent value for money with an excellent buffet breakfast and buffet dinner only charged at 13euros! Their A la carte menu is also excellent and we chose to dine from this on 3 nights.

Our room was on the fourth floor overlooking the swimming pool (which unfortunately was not in use as out of season). We didn't experience any noise problems other than the few inconsiderate guests returning to their rooms late at night or leaving early morning. In fact the room was so quiet at night that I had difficulty falling asleep!

Very clean hotel - well situated for the Alhambra but the walk into the town is quite taxing. My mother has angina so the walk back took it's toll. I wouldn't recommend the walk to anyone with any physical problems but the buses run frequently upto 11pm every day and only cost 1 euro each way.

All in all would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Granada for a few days break.

Just got back from staying 2 nights at this hotel based on a recommendation from some friends of ours.

The hotel was very good, with fair size rooms with simple decor. Very good breakfast, and very helpful and courteous staff. On the downside, the walls were quite thin in our room (could hear next door showering!) and there was a slight "drainy" smell at times in the bathroom.

What really makes this hotel though is the location, literally right on the doorstep of the Alhambra Palace. You couldn't be closer, and the extra distance out of town (c.1 mile to the old town down a steep and picturesque hill) makes for a peaceful night's sleep. If you really can't face the walk back up, taxis are cheap and plentiful and there are very frequent bus services running through to 11pm at night.

We paid £90 total for 2 nights through Ryanairhotels and considered it a bargain. Thoroughly recommended and you will absolutely love Granada!!!
