Great for Alhambra but not for town.

GOOD POINTS:
1. Excellent location for the Alhambra - the entrance is about 2 min walk downhill.
2. Very helpful staff
3. Rooms are clean and well furnished

BAD POINTS:
1. The walls were quite thin, so toilet flushing by us and the next room is torture to the ears.
2. Not much activity at the top of the hill, and you will have to go to town for food / shopping.
3. Due to the location on the top of the hill, a taxi is relatively expensive to the airport, about 25-27 euros.

OTHER INFO:
I booked a room on the 4th floor, which has the larger and more expensive rooms, after reading the recommendations for room 412. Unfortunately 412 and 407 (the rooms with large balconies) were taken and we got room 408, which was large and well equipped but only had a small ledge. This room had two single beds, although I specifically requested for a double.

I booked straight through them (+34958223423 or ---) and paid 69 euros per night. Breakfast was not included. Hotel staff were very efficient and helped us book the Alhambra tickets. Note that you have to pay a 10% charge (1 euro per ticket) to them for booking it, which they didn't mention. You then have to redeem this booking slip at the Alhambra to get the actual ticket.

There are a few restaurants in the area but none were open for dinner, so we ate at the hotel restaurant. The food was alright, nothing spectacular for the 3 course set dinner which cost about 15 euros.

Overall it was great except for the loud toilet flushing mentioned above. I would recommend a hotel in town since there is so much more shopping, eating and walking to do there. Although the Alhambra is uphill, you can take a bus there for 1 euro each way.

BTW there is an airport shuttle bus service from town which costs about 4 euros per pax. Much cheaper than the taxi!

This hotel is well-known and well-reviewed, but I think we hit it at an off-time. It's well located, just across from the Alhambra, and there's a bus that comes regularly and often that will take you into the city. The rooms are large and comfortable, but the plumbing was erratic during our stay, with brown water and no service for a half an hour at a time. The lobby had a sewage smell at various moments. It feels like a higher-end budget hotel, but the restaurant is very pricey, so we never used it. The staff was okay--rather impersonal, I felt. They were unable to give me change for a $50 euro bill at one point and I had to hike up the hill to a fancier hotel. Not great.

Great location and worthy of another star rating! We stayed for a long weekend and found our mini break a real pleasure. Hotel rooms are clean and generally quite, location wise... great for the Alhambra as it’s less than 200m away from the main entrance. The hotel restaurant is also recommended as the 3 course meals are great value and quality is more than adequate. Do bear in mind the hotel location is on a steep hill and for those of you who are not as mobile as others may find the walk in the area a bit too much, although, taxis are plentiful and the bus stop near the hotel/Alhambra provides a mini bus shuttle service to the main square every 5-10 minutes. All in all a great hotel for a relatively low cost!

Splendid Hotel - judging from our room, Hotel Guadalupe should definitely be a 4 star! Some reviewers seem to have been less lucky so we paid a little more to book direct and secure their best room - 412 which must have one of the best views in Spain! 401 would be good for a single and 402 must be similar as, I imagine, would the rooms immediately below.

There was no trouble booking the palace at this time of year - but remember you can get tickets from the BBV bank - if our guidebook is to be believed.

If in doubt, always visit attractions before 1300 - we missed out a couple of times!

The location of the Guadalupe is spectacular - literally a minute's walk to the entrance of the Alhambra, and the same distance to catch buses (every 5/10 mins @ less than a Euro) or taxis (again, frequently available and only about 4 Euros)into Granada proper. So I'm not at all sure why other reviews have bothered mentionning the fact that the hotel is on a hill - yes, it'd be a steep walk up from the city centre but why on earth would you bother?! The staff were really friendly, with excellent English; breakfast was good and the meal we had in the restaurant one evening was superb - and brilliant value. The rooms are pretty standard, clean, comfortable, Spanish style, hotel rooms - but had everything you needed - plus a jacuzzi bath! If we went back to Granada, we'd definitely stay here again.
