Great location for a visit to the Alhambra. Also recommend a walk downhill into the City for a visit to the Cathedral - 3.50 euros entry - well worth it for this very impressive building. Also took the open top bus tour 12.40 euros for a 24 hour ticket - you can hop off and visit many attractions as many times as you wish within this time (bus stop in the car park right opposite the hotel).
Our room was fine - room 310 - clean & spacious with a comfortable bed - although the side view was not spectacular! Had both breakfast & dinner in the hotel - found the set price 3 course evening meal good value at 12.50 euros. Breakfast ok but not great at 9 euros.
Staff friendly & helpful - we used the bar & found the barman to be efficient )especially if you give him a small tip!
Make sure that you book your Alhambra tickets on line before you go - you will then get a booking reference - there were huge queues to pidk up the tickets - we went along to the automated machines adjacent to the queues - select your language & put in the credit card that you used to book the tickets & our tickets popped straight out - took less than a minute & we did this the day before our visit - highly recommended!
Car parking in the main Alhambra car park - try to get a space in P1 which is nearest the hotel - the hotel will give you a voucher for half price parking - 12.50 for 24 hours. Overall a great trip in a good hotel in a great location.

i ledt my MP3 player in the room when we checked out and when I rang that night the staff said there was no record of anything being left behind. In fact they were downright unhelpful! Obviously the cleaners or the staff are untrustworthy.
DO NOT STAY THERE. The position is superb but the staff are bad.

If you're coming to Granada just for the Alhambra, this hotel is a great deal. It's literally a 2 minute walk from the front door to the Alhambra ticket office. Our room (305) was huge and had two large windows looking out over the Alhambra and the hills beyond. The hotel has a bar and restaurant as well as free internet access. The only downside is that you're a good 10 minute drive from the central "downtown" area, so finding places to eat, particularly for breakfast, can be difficult. We had breakfast at the hotel once, but at 8 euros per person, it was more than we wanted to spend on some cereal and fruit. (Note: Le Yedra Real just down the street is a good deal for lunch and you can sit outside on the balcony). However, it's really easy to hop on one of the minibuses that run from just past the Alhambra ticket office into town. We never waited more than 5 minutes for a bus to come and it's only a euro per ride. Overall, we were more than pleased with our time here.

Stayed at this hotel as part of Andalucia Tour. The hotel is located on the hill leading down to the Alhambra Palace, the path outside is very narrow so beware of traffic as you exit the hotel. Our room was not in the hotel itself but in an annexe a few doors away, this meant a short walk up the hill to another entry door next to a souvenir shop, all the rooms here are on the first floor. Our room was very small with a very hard bed, again which was small and so was the bathroom, it was really a single room with a double bed. No room safe. Breakfast & dinner meant going down to ground floor, walk down hill to hotel main building, up to first floor to restaurant. Barman was particularly abrupt to say the least and local (Spanish) customers got priority treatment whether you spoke to him in Spanish or English, which sometimes he pretended not to understand. Location for Alhambra Palace is very good, make sure to book your tickets early as queues are very very long. Grenada open top tour bus stops across from hotel as do local buses so getting into Grenada is no problem, but its nice to walk down the hill for the views etc then get the bus back up to the hotel. Food is ok, nothing special but at least you can have a hot breakfast with a Cava if you like.

The Guadalupe is up by the Alhambra. We stayed there as a group- my husband and myself and our two teenagers and our niece. We had a room with a terrace that looked out onto the library of the Alhambra and hills and mountains in back of that-- the terrace was huge and a wonderful addition to the room. The teens shared a triple that was very large and which they enjoyed. It was fun to stay up the hill by the Alhambra, we walked down and back up the paths to and from Granada at least once if not twice each day, and we also enjoyed going into the Alhambra open areas (for which you do not need a ticket) in addition to our fantastic, ticketed visit in which we spend a lot of time at the Generalife and the Nasrid Palace. You can also walk in back of the library on some paths and a street- not too many people seem to know that and it is beautiful and a different view. Granada is a lot of fun, with its mix of cultures. As Americans, it was also fun to be someplace that does not cater to Americans. The hotel staff is friendly; the restaurant surprisingly better than we thought it would be (we had breakfast there once as well as dinner once); and the room prices were reasonable. For those who need their internet access, this is not the place to be, however--the hotel's access seems spotty at best. We would recommend this hotel and this location.

  • Liked — I loved being by the Alhambra, and the hotel is in a great location and the staff treat the hotel with love
  • Disliked — no problems at all, did not mind the spotty internet as I was tryin gto be on vacatio nand get away from work
