The plus points of this hotel were excellent breakfasts,as good as i`ve had anywhere, with a great variety of choice. The location was good, adjacent to an old church,in a quieter area 10mins from the busier centre.Helpful, friendly staff and a very clean and relaxing reception/bar-lounge area.Slightly less impressively, the room was a touch small, but clean and the bathroom needed a little re-grouting in places but nothing too bad. There was a little noise from the street at the side of the hotel but nothing major(may be worse in july-august).My only real problem with the hotel was the food we had in the restaurant.I expected a lot on the strength of the breakfast, but it was expensive and hardly edible due to being far too salty. This marred what would have been an above average review. In short i would recommend this hotel but to be wary of the restaurant(great food in the realejo area at "La tinfa"at a fraction of the price).
The hotel was clean and comfortable and is, as mentioned in other reviews, not in the 'dead center' of town, but still within a very easy walking distance. We stayed there with two rooms, for two nights, and we loved the spanish touches of the decor and the breakfast was great. The front desk was most helpful with helping us to see La Alhambra, since we didn't know that reservations are needed during high season and even let me use one of the office computers to check my business email when the guest computer was acting glitchy. We would definitely recommend this hotel!
We have now stayed here on two occasions. It is not quite central as described but the centre is an enjoyable 10-15 minute stroll away. It is in a quiet location with several nice bars on the doorstep including an excellent patisserie across the road.
The breakfast was absolutely wonderful with a wide range of hot and cold dishes as well as lots of fruit.
All in all, it is excellent value.
We stayed for one night - it's a great location. In the midst of town within 5 min walk to Cathedral where all the shops are. You can also take the #31 or #32 bus and tour the famous Albayzin area - fly through the narrow (and I mean narrow!!) pebble stoned streets in a mini-bus for only $1 Euro (great experience). You can stop at Plaza St. Nicolas for a magnificient view of the entire Alhambra. If you do stop at Plaza St. Nicolas, be sure to have dinner at this unbelieveable restaurant - very reasonable price but fine dining - it's down the hill from the bus stop. They also have an incredible view of the Alhambra too. It's call Carmen Verde Luna. Make reservation ahead of time if you want a table staring right at the Alhambra (phone no. 34-95-8291794). Their Gaszpcho soup is to die for. Oh, back to the hotel - the rooms are quite basic, you should request a room by the courtyard if you are a light sleeper. You will hear street noise during the night if you are right on the blvd. Their breakfast is good. Be sure to stop by the church that's immediately adjacent to the front door of the hotel. It's fabulous inside - we lucked out and watch a wedding proceeding.
