We stayed for one night - it's a great location. In the midst of town within 5 min walk to Cathedral where all the shops are. You can also take the #31 or #32 bus and tour the famous Albayzin area - fly through the narrow (and I mean narrow!!) pebble stoned streets in a mini-bus for only $1 Euro (great experience). You can stop at Plaza St. Nicolas for a magnificient view of the entire Alhambra. If you do stop at Plaza St. Nicolas, be sure to have dinner at this unbelieveable restaurant - very reasonable price but fine dining - it's down the hill from the bus stop. They also have an incredible view of the Alhambra too. It's call Carmen Verde Luna. Make reservation ahead of time if you want a table staring right at the Alhambra (phone no. 34-95-8291794). Their Gaszpcho soup is to die for. Oh, back to the hotel - the rooms are quite basic, you should request a room by the courtyard if you are a light sleeper. You will hear street noise during the night if you are right on the blvd. Their breakfast is good. Be sure to stop by the church that's immediately adjacent to the front door of the hotel. It's fabulous inside - we lucked out and watch a wedding proceeding.

The TRYP Albayzin is located in the centre of Granada, just off a busy street and is not too noisy. The rooms are small but clean and are equipped with minibar, safe and T.V. The hotel is beautifully decorated in keeping with the moorish style of the city. The Alhambra is only a 15 minute walk away, and the Cathedral is closer. We felt very safe in the area. There is an excellent buffet breakfast available until 11a.m. We would definitely stay there again.

When I'm trying to find a hotel, I want to know if the place is clean and kept clean during my stay, is the staff friendly and is the neighborhood safe. The Tryp Albayzin answers "yes" to all three. Ever so slightly off the main crossroads of the city (Puerta Real) and along a wide promenade, it avoids the noise and rush of being right on the main drag without eliminating the convenience of a central location. We walked everywhere including to the Alhambra but bus stops for many routes were still quite close to the hotel. Travelling in January, we were able to get an excellent off-season rate on the corporate website -- which put this four star treat right within our budget.
