“central and comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

We stayed one night in mid February. The hotel is conveniently located to take in the tourist sites. It also has easily accessible parking. We wanted somewhere quiet as well and were pleased to have a room off the street. While there wasn't a good view it didn't matter as we were out sightseeing all day. The room was very comfortable and clean. The staff at the desk were very pleasant and helpful. As we were only there one night we didn't use the other facilities in the hotel.

This hotel is well located, within a walk of the center of the city, the cathedral, nice plazas, a tourist office, and, if you're energetic, the Alhambra, which is uphill. My problems with it included cold, hard floor in the room, wifi that would not work for me except sporadically in the lobby, and the room was dark. Our room was in the back and had no view at all. The windows opened only slightly onto a central, small, dark courtyard, and the lights in the room were low wattage, so it always seemed a bit dreary. We enjoyed the bar in the evening and the breakfast and dinners were not bad. I think I would need a good discount to stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms that look out to el Alhambra seemed much nicer.

We spend three nights at this hotel from the 14th to the 16th of February. First impression of the hotel was very favourable. The lobby was very clean and the staff very helpful. The room was of a decent size with a well equiped bathroom, both of which were spotless. Breafast was excellent with a good choice of options. On the down side the air conditioning unit seemed not be working properly as we could not adjust the temp to our liking and the general lighting in the room was very poor and the walls seemed to be made of paper as you could hear the next door guests talking. Sleeping at night was a bit difficult as we had a room on the second floor facing a side street which was very noisy up to the early hours in the morning. The best quality of this hotel is it's location right in the centre of the city.

Room Tip: I would ask for a higher floor and preferably facing the front of the hotel as you get great views o...

I stayed for two nights in this hotel, for the first time, and was really impressed by the cleanliness, the friendliness of the staff and the food. There was so much choice at both breakfast and dinner. I went with a group of over thirty people and I did not hear any one complain about anything. It is very convenient for the shops and the other amenities. There is a taxi rank outside the door and the taxis in Granada are quite cheap. I would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: They have some rooms with shower cubicles rather than a bath. I believe that some older people cann...

Great location - very central And directly accross the road from El COrte Ingles. We stayed for 3 nights from 4th JAn And cant fault it.
Hotel itself Was Well furnished And staff very helpful. The rooms were nice but we did find it hard to control air con as we found it quite warm. The breakfast Was buffet Style And again no problems. Parking Was underneath and the porter would park your car. We didnt Eat in the hotel in the evening as we were so central that there were many restaurants to Choose from. The reason for our trip Was to visit Sierra Nevada for skiing and it Was ideally located to get onto the motorway. Would use the hotel again.

Stayed two nights at the Carmen Hotel in Granada in September last year. The hotel is located in the very centre of the city, directly opposite the El Corte Ingles Department Store, which has an excellent supermarket in the basement. The Carmen is a popular hotel for large tour groups, which can make the breakfast and dinner buffets rather crowded. Rooms have been nicely refurbished in a modernist style, with flat screen TV's and free wi-fi access. Unfortunately, access to the network kept dropping out in my particular room and I was forced to sit in the foyer to access the internet. The air-conditioning in my room never worked (despite it being "serviced" at my request by a very friendly and obliging technician) and the temperature stayed at an uncomfortable 28 degrees celsius throughout my stay!

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

The Carmen Hotel is within easy walking distance to all main tourist areas. Although I didn't have a good view from the hotel bedroom, the room was extremely clean and comfortable and all public areas were of very high standard. Disappointed that I missed the roof-top bar and the views from there! Excellent choice of food for breakfast with hot and cold buffet. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. All in all an excellent choice of hotel.
